Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

F34 Ireland notified am out

So after 13 years at intel I got ISP notified today am out folks also from people i have spoken to since yesterday seems to be more than 4% reported that have gotten notified in Ireland entre groups decamated.

Let's remember they've sold 49% in Ireland i seriously imagine intel will be sold by 2027! taking the severance whilst a 5 week severance is offered + 2 weeks statutory seems to be a better package than last year (EU + Irish law)

They want people gone between mid July and end August.

Good luck to all out there over and out.

@OP it doesn't matter if they are sold. Semiconductor companies have been doing thus for years.

@OP
Is the OP really a F34 employee?
Above a certain number of reduncies - Irish employment law requires a 30 day consultation period before employees can be informed of their redundancy. That 30 day period only started this week, so it will be mid August before folks know their fate but they've been informed of a potential impact.
Also, 5 weeks normal pay + 2 weeks statutory thats capped at €600 is the same package as last year.

There is safety in large numbers. Like when those huge schools of fish are able to survive as a group against a great white shark. A shark can't possibly eat all of them.

I don't suppose the little fish 'feel lucky'... but must do survive.

Of course if you are thinking of yourself, it would be hard to 'feel lucky' that the cuts were 4%. But, if you are thinking about the entire group, you would feel very lucky indeed.

195 jobs cut in Ireland. Which is about 5% and way less than 20% cut expected across the company worldwide.

@ab They just got laid off and you're saying they should count themselves very lucky?

@ab @OP said that it's more than 4%, which I assume was reported somewhere. Meaning more than was anticipated.

4% doesn't sound too bad. The company is on the ropes and has been bloated for years so count yourself and Ireland as being very lucky.

About time the overall layoff burden is expanded to those outside the USA. Far too often, US employees are the ones who get whacked, while lazy employees in Europe get spared due to "labor laws".
