@20k2 You either don't work for RA in the US or don't understand the policy. The 1st reply in this thread is correct for US-based employees.
@OP 1-2 weeks per year of service. Older folks get a bit more because it is harder to find a new opportunity if you are 55+
Being RIFd su-ks especially if you are 50+ no matter what severance package you get
For the person that doesn't understand what you should get if you get RIF'd, feel free to review the severance policy (assuming you are a RA US-based employee). Good luck finding the policy though, HR has buried it, but it can still be found with some effort.
To the guy that thinks he can get a new position at higher salary within weeks, good luck with that, especially if you are 50+.
I can confirm 1 week per year, 20 max. No extra 2 weeks for same day, that doesn't even make sense.
Apparently, this deal was developed by veena lakundumb and d-mber…
I think the guy above is correct. 1 week per year. 20max. Maybe a little more if they do it quick. For the rif, probably not much room to ask for more but you can try
It is not bad deal at all. Take vacation for a few months, get another job with bonus and may be higher salary. Layoffs is not bad at all if you have good skills that are transferrable. I am sure they will not let me go, but I welcome if that happens. I can get another job within weeks.
Generally, it is 1 week of pay for every year of service with a max of 20 weeks. If you are walked out same day, you get an additional 2 weeks. You also get paid for any unused vacation time (remember to use the floaters first).
So if you have 20+ years in and haven't used any of your vacation yet and you get ambushed and walked out the same day, you could potentially get the equivalent of 27 weeks of pay.
