Every negative post about the capabilities of the BTC personnel must be from those entitled Houston employees that think that their jobs require an IQ of 150. Must be because of the feeling of insecurity.

It is absolutely amazing, yet repeatable, that every ethic Indian that I have worked with that was raised in USA is completely competent but 90% of the engineers that I work with from BTC are disappointingly incompetent.

It must be a combination of education and culture.

These Indians will yes sir you like an angel on the first year. Once they get used to the place, they will step on your head and act like a maharajah with an attitude.

@OP Then tell your under-achieving, lilly-white children to apply themselves at college to something other than drinking, dr-gs, football, and BS art degrees that no longer mean anything in the modern jobs market. Or better yet, go out to the refinery and do the dirty work yourself.

Also keep in mind that spending 60 hours a week in a chemical process facility does not rank high on the bucket list for most people under age 30, regardless of race or national origin.

Corporations have become more liberal of late. They were more dictatorial back in the good old days.

To the commenter below, comparing military duties and missions to the corporate world is misguided. The comments here highlight why corporations are continually evolving and often try to adopt more of a military mentality. "Civilians" find it challenging to understand this concept. Get with it, or consider working at Walmart.

Engineers are as swappable as pokemon cards.
The high value ones are not based on origins or locations.
They are not inventors or imagineers.
They read numbers and apply established algorithms.

So "yes" is a valid response to anything they're asked by their superiors.

Superiors are as swappable as pokemon cards.
The high value ones are ....

Isn’t that what people do while in military service? Corporate life isn’t different where what the boss says is final, is it?
Besides, they are coming into a different country and different culture - give them some slack and very soon they’ll run circles around you.

I have experienced this first hand.
I came up with a great idea and I was told that my idea had to be presented to Management by the BTC engineer in our group because Management was more likely to support the modification if it would make an Indian look good.
