Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford barely sold 200,000 units in China per year. It's a money loosing business, why Ford insisted on keeping the plant open? You only need 1 assembly plant to produce 200k per year. Ford has 5 assembly plants, how inefficient this company is. No wonder Ford keeps on loosing money.

China was a huge potential market for the early players as stated. Once the Chinese figured out how to manage and run their own business by owning part of our businesses, they just started their own using our technology and IP, only making it better. We should get out like we got out of India. Oh wait, we can't do that because some smart person(s) thought it was a good idea to build the new Lincoln Nautilus in China and import it to the USA with a 25% tariff. I hope we start making better decisions before its to late. From a concerned retiree.

Not a single Ford vehicles qualified as made in USA. This is why I don't support buying a Ford or Lincoln.

On top of this, Ford quality is in the sh-t hole. Ford has received the title for King of Recalls 3 years in a row. WOW.

Not only do they not sell many vehicles, but they offer nearly as many models in China as in the US.

There should be no doubt in anyone’s mined that china wants to take over everything / world. These id--ts, and any us company doing business in Chana, are training and educating them on how to make these product so they can pull away and take over the leadership. These greedy id--ts running this company are only concerned about them selfs and their arrogant greed and don’t give a hoot about long turn health of the company.

In this respect Ford has sold their souls to China in more ways than one. If you look into the concessions they had to agree to in order to get usage of those battery technology rights...they were not the clear winner in that agreement. The tendrils of that agreement can be felt (and seen) in a lot of places.

It used to be that any foreign company wanting to do business in China had to have a Chinese partner with 51% ownership. And that “partner” would usually be connected to the CCP or PLA.

Ford was late to the party in China, and had to settle for bottom of the barrel JV partners there. The argument was made that China is a potentially huge market, but Ford is still just a very small bit player there. You're right that it seems foolish to stay...it's the old saying that "insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results".

@OP 1 assembly plant for the units sold in China, and 4 others for their dreams. Their dreams? To replace many UAW assembly plants with the Chinese ones, hope the American public doesn't realize that Ford cannot even qualify in the top 10 American made vehicle list, and save enough money with it to cover the inefficiencies and lack of direction of Bill Ford and the C suite.
