This is the American way. Yeee haww.

You all dream of being wealthy. And if you ever did get a few pennies more than the pittance you earn now, you would expect to be able to do more with your lives too.

You would all start working remotely and you know it. That's what keeps serfs motivated - that one day they may be billionaires.

If they didn't believe that pipedream, they would vote for the libs who actually try to help the poor. But nope. We convince you that it's not 'patriotic'.

I don't know what you all are complaining about. Remote work is awesome.

I wake up in the morning and turn the computer on and then go back to bed for another hour. Then I wake up and go through emails for about 30 minutes to an hour. Then I take a shower or make something to eat. Then I work on a PowerPoint for leadership. Then I'm pretty much done for the day. I'll work on things around my house until 5ish and then turn the computer off. It's amazing.

Other days I'll do all of the stuff during the first half of the day and then after lunch just take my mountain bike out to the trails. It really is awesome. I encourage you all to work remotely.

It sounds like you all work for leaders that are not implementing these DEI initiatives effectively.

I am an LL4 with a fairly large team of employees beneath my umbrella. I have been implementing DEI techniques for years now and have had nothing but positive reviews from executive leadership.

I always pair Black men and White women together for projects. I find that these two groups work extremely well together and are both very open to trying new things when facing challenges.

I group all of the othe people of color and s--ualities together. They bring such different perspectives and arrive at unique solutions that would never have been reached by white male teams.

I give these minority groups work that is never too difficult. And I always ensure that they present in front of senior leadership to ensure that they have the right connections should they want to climb the corporate ladder later in their careers.

I always group the white males with each other. I give this group the real challenging projects. Nothing flashy or attention getting, but the king of work that really keeps this company running. I always personally communicate their results to senior leadership and cascade the feedback accordingly.

I have received the greatest feedback during my reviews with my leaders. And the teams all seem to be enjoying their experiences. I hope that you all have the opportunity to work in teams like this.

Well, my people are much more likely to be pulled over by police and much more likely to be ki-led by police.

This diversity hire is a step in the right direction.

And look below - a pipeline project shut down so it wouldn't destroy Native American reservation land gets down votes?? Do you people have no hearts?

Most of top management is working from home. Some work in Cali, Florida, Texas and rarely come in to lead live only a few days a month. This very little in office osmosis going on as a result and a lot more “yes” man decisions being made. They are enjoying working from home just like everyone else except they are getting paid millions. Nobody is coming back in until these guys show leadership and come into the office.

Outsourcing to other countries increases our minority headcount. Ford is actively improving our diversity numbers. Adding non-white employees is very good for our Ford Family.

Like I told my cousin's fool husband some time ago, "Just because I don't swing a hammer all day like you do doesn't mean I'm not working.", as the rube could not see beyond his own limited intellectual capacity. Yes - If you are a coal miner you should work in the mine, but the computer programmer developing a dashboard to help management identify the non-productive union miners to fire should never have to get his/her/they/them/it/y'all hands dirty . . . If you are a site dependent worker - then shut up and go work on site without being jealous of those who are able to work exclusively with their brains. "Learn to code." - JB after ki-ling the pipeline jobs . . .

"Real" engineers work on site with the techs. not relying on second hand information and pictures sent to their phones. If you can't understand that, you are incompetent. The most (Value Added People) are the people assembling the vehicles.

@1qoa+1mpatqjg So according to your definition of "useful" employee, we should eliminate the CEO, BoD, and all LL positions. After all, they don't have to work in the office or plant.

While I would agree to remove the current people in those positions, and reduce the number of LLs in the company, your definition of "useful" employee is silly. There are many jobs that can be done remotely, and are needed in the company, like IT services, payroll, accounting, and others.

The problem at Ford is not WFH, but the low quality management. Not only they have no clue of how much time it takes to do a task, which makes them easy to dupe by their subordinates, but managers are allowed to play office politics above anything else. There is no accountability in the company, and managers don't suffer any consequence for the awful job they do.

@OP While I understand the benefits of WFH for both the employer and the employee, I still don't see how that would prevent layoffs.

You must have a huge office at home. How do you work on vehicles in your home? It is simple. If you don't have to work in the office or plant, you really have NO VALUE to the company as they are getting along just fine in your absence. I'd eliminate your position. SIMPLE!
