Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Packages coming in September

Up to 12months severance. Target reduction 7,500 in NA. LL6s and above an extra 6months. Looks like were serious about the 25%.

2gil+1mMEkREb - Prices's Law suggests we could cut the white collar cadre down to 4500-5000 and still see over 90% of the productivity we see today. I think @2gdy+1mMEkREb's plan is a great start on heading that direction.

2gil Sounds like you are on the FnF plan? 51 employees? Likely closer to 3000-4000 in the US who aren’t on the FnF plan and actually contribute. Anyone who has worked @ Ford in Metro Detroit and is honest knows 70-80% of most every group are non-contributors/barely contributors. Some groups are 100% boon dongles

Feel bad for the few high contributors having to continually swim upstream with the FnF boat anchors dragging them down.

@2gdy+1mMEkREb

Hello??? If they actually implemented your 6-step plan there might be 51 people left at Ford! Well, at least that would help the quality issues. And then you would find out those 51 are FnF, too!

Step 1: Fire all the LL3 and LL5
Step 2: Fire any LL4 / LL6 / GSR who immediately lobbies for a promotion to fill the LL3, LL5 spots - that will be all the people on the friends and family plan
Step 3: Fire anyone who immediately lobbies to fill the spots Step 2 opened up
Step 4: Repeat until all FnF climbers are purged
Step 5: Fire anyone who has no purpose as they were only doing fake tasks created by the recently fired.
Step 6: Assess and restructure and flatten the management tree to 3 levels at most.

Op: you forgot to mention that all LLxs get to keep one lease car for free, and all GSRs get an extra $30k to be used only on a new Ford vehicle. Added benefit for all: gift certificate for a free dinner at the Ford Garage. And extra extra benefit for all: season pass to the Lions!

Why would anyone want to lose the organizations that are responsible for determining our future ideas and products?!? That would be long-term corporate destruction. Ford has been in business for over 100 years and is planning on staying in business for another 100. With no future development, how do you propose the company survive?

I sure hope you are not in a Ford leadership position.

This is 1) a lie 2) wishful thinking and 3) pure delusion.

You'll get SIRP'd with a maximum of 9 months of salary based on tenure.

And that will happen very very soon.

@olm+1mMEkREb if the criteria was letting people who don't produce go, then it would apply to almost all management, ankle biters and jobs which have no direct impact to the bottom line or vehicle design-manufacture. The August layoffs were about shedding payroll and pension obligations, not about whether a person did work or not. If you are not in a "safe" area, not in the friends and family club, have a high salary, escalating pension, pi---d off someone etc. you are a target. Note program management was not impacted last go around, and they are all largely overhead who don't directly contribute to delivery i.e. ankle biter role. Source, myself. SIRP'ed with 3 TA's in 4 last years with 22 years. Directly contributed to bottomline revenue with $$. Won't mention the role in this open forum.

Can we finally cut D-ford and Ford next? They provide zero value and are incredibly expensive. The Director of D Ford Detroit begins meetings by reminding everyone that he climbed Everest. Except his name is not on the registry and he never climbed it, he's just full of BS; an external "tech" hire failing to fulfill his promise and telling lies like all the rest. He's a joke.

Voluntary packages, or involuntary?

It has to happen. We can’t end another year with a loss, so all the people who aren’t directly producing revenue have to go!
