Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Customers first. Employees…somewhere.

I’m sorry, but this message is a pretty tone-deaf way to communicate with employees, especially right now.

“Pre-order week is for our customers first.” Got it, Jon. Apparently employees, many of whom are also customers and shareholders, can wait our turn.

After another round of layoffs and with employees being asked to do more with less, telling the people who actually work here that we’re simply not the priority is… certainly a choice.

We can talk all day about putting customers first, but employees aren’t some separate category from the business. We ARE customers. We ARE shareholders. And we’re the people responsible for delivering the experience you’re telling customers to buy.

The continued framing of employees as a number or a resource rather than people who have invested years of their lives into this company is exactly why messaging like this lands so poorly.

There was a much better way to say “customers get first access” without essentially reminding employees where ELT believes we rank.

Tone matters. Especially right now.

Saw will retire next. Simon or Ankur to replace him.

@OP Talk about tone deaf. TMUS isn't exactly ki-ling it anymore. Look at our stock today at $165. Businesses are about selling products and services to our customers, not making sure employees have the newest phones. Your getting paid to do a job, which doesn't include always having access to the latest gadget. I think you will live if you have to wait a couple months.

@t1 Gee. Apple came out with a foldable phone. Something Samsung did OVER SEVEN YEARS AGO.

I see what you’re saying in the tone deafness of it all and typically corporate America values the customer more than employee so I also get that too. It’s kind of funny about this launch is that I myself in one of those who upgraded every year and this year decided not to and just for kicks around 7 PM on Saturday looked on Apple site for availability and you could still get a phone on launch day so the sales are not blockbuster by any means. If Anything else it was a stupid unnecessary email, but I’m sure it isn’t happening in other carriers

@OP, how could you possibly be so disappointed having to wait a few more days? What a first-world problem to have...

I am no fan of things happening in the company, but you need to take a deep breath. The discounted rate plans for employees will not TMO move forward in the market. Moreover, as mentioned by another poster TMO is not the only company putting Customers first for new products. You are in for a rude awakening if you go elsewhere.

If you really want the latest Apple device(s) then simply go buy it from Apple.com.

If you’re complaining about this, there’s no making you happy. Like the other person said, nothing new. Always been the policy to put customers at highest priority. Just another entitled Seattle person.

Your beloved John Legere said the same thing all the years he was here.

Customer prioritized orders have always been the policy for decades. I loathe the company for how they treat employees but this is nothing new.
