Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Phone at desk policy

I’m told I can’t have my phone out at my desk even if it’s just to pull it out and turn on music while I work.

Meanwhile, the people who sit in the next row over talk all day and it’s so distracting. I have no idea how to get anything done. And I have people from other areas walking over to them all day long as well and all these people talk about are their lunch plans and then complain about their peers at other sites.

I need to put my AirPods in and listen to something that helps me stay focused- the way I see it. I’ll get fired either way… either from pulling my phone out to turn on Spotify or because my work is not as productive as it used to be because of these geniuses that sit around me who have zero respect for others.

To the person that said this was a fake post. I can say having worked in centralized sales mortgage department for the bank we were not allowed to have earbuds or phone out ever. If you had to take or make a phone call or text message, you have to get up from your desk and go to a phone area. You could have an Apple Watch but not one that could take pictures. But absolutely no earbuds or anything to help distract from all that so I believe this person. Call centers, especially can be like jail. This is not a call center like how people think about it this is employees doing sales and originating mortgages for the Bank.

Ask the manager what happens if you are working from home and pull out your phone? Do they blink a bunch of times trying to comprehend the question?

But remember, aside from alllll those distractions the bank policy believes "Together, we're better!."

No phone allowed? He!!, bring in the Bo-m Box!!

Go all 1980s on their azzes. The bigger and louder the better!!

Hoist it onto to your shoulders and strut around the d@mn floor blasting Cypress Hill "Insane in the Membrane" up their @$$e$.

If they complain to you, quietly and calmly reply that you are simply "bringing your "Authentic Self" to the office", as per The Company's Diversity & Inclusion Policy, we are supposed to be able to be ourselves at the office and not have to compartmentalize our lives.

Oh g0d, I think I may need to invoke the Employee Assistance Program for my narrow-minded conformist Manager and Peers not letting me Actualize My True Self.

yea, f- 'em. You Do You!! Period.

@OP Walk around the floors and buildings of Plano Campus and count the number of people playing games on their phones.

We had a crazy lady on our floor. She complained about me playing music real low on my phone from a few rows over. They eventually had to do a special cleaning of our area because the crazy loon was watering plastic plants everyday causing mold to form.

Pulling out your phone is against the rules because you might use it to steal confidential info. Pens/pencils and paper by the ream are ok to have on your desk and nobody checks what you write down and take home. Make it make sense.

Can you get a plain MP3 player and download music to that?

YouTube is allowed on our computers so you could pull up a playlist that way. Just an option.

You must be in a production type role. They are usually stricter.

I agree listening to music while working makes the day go by faster.
Maybe you can try setting up a playlist and getting it going before you sit down that way you can hit play from your AirPods.

That is crazy you can't pull your phone out. Are you on hvd? We have to authenticate to log in and some other apps.

It is so loud near me as well. Do you have a library or other spaces you can go to?
