Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

We need new leadership

Laying off employees as a way to increase profits is an outdated and short-term solution that indicates the current management team does not have any good ideas. Let's face it, they are a one-trick pony. They haven't done anything good to move the company forward in years. TC has proven to be useless. We need a complete overhaul on the top if we're to right this ship.

Globalfoundries is a failed company in its final death throes. It is dying a slow death and nearly every year it takes another step down the path to its demise.

I know we blame the leadership at the top a lot and rightfully so. But honestly the lower lines of management need to take a bigger chunk of the blame too. They lie and deceive their subordinates nearly constantly. They mislead and gaslight us. Then when it comes time to pay up on some promise they made - it’s always pushed to next year. At first I thought it was a fluke - “yea ok next year.” But it’s becoming apparent that this is the style of management at Globalfoundries. Broken promises, lies and misinformation and misdirection. And don’t it get twisted - our managers know what they are doing and saying. They know flat out when they make a promise or deal that won’t be able to deliver in a year. And that’s just flat out wrong.

On this board and its posts there is a lot of “Shame on you don’t believe what you manager says - you should know better.” Don’t you all see how wrong that is? It’s like we have been trained to accept this behavior as the norm. Like battered housewives- “oh you don’t understand - that’s just how it is and how he shows he loves me.” Guys! That is very wrong - and pretty bad/dark, that we have developed that mindset and psychology as it pertains to our employment.

Our direct management are the true nodding “yes,” men of the company and it’s their incompetence, ineptitude and just general lack of backbone that is the real root of Globalfoundries failure and gradual demise. They can’t lead a team to certain goals which when accumulated together leads to larger assembled failures.

So while yes the top leaders are making terrible decisions at the top; the real villains of the story are the direct managers and their managers who force feed us bullsh-t and expect us to smile, thank them and ask for some more. The first line and second line managers at Globalfoundries on a whole are down right id--ts who do not deserve their positions and are not proficient at their jobs. At the root of it they know the truth but deceive us irregardless and that is pretty foul and immoral.

JM and HP episode is going to sink the GF. JM represented last remaining experience in GF while HP represents the junk, corruption, incompetence, racism, bias, he-l and boot lickers in AME. HP gene has gotten deep inside the dna of GF and is eating the whole company.
More HP survives, longer Will bad characters prevail and get promoted in AME.

The majority of leadership turnover is either a good one leaving the company or a bad one getting promoted, unfortunately. JM of F8 litho comes to mind for the first scenario, while of course his predecessor HP is a model of the second.

You don’t need new Leadership. You all need a new employer. Best thing that could happen for the leftover employees would be for a proper chip manufacturer to come in and buy GF. The rot is too deep to pivot.

Heard MSM who was laid off had complained to HR for director favoritism, lack of competency , racism and bias. This director is already sued by another employee for similar reasons in past . This is really unfortunate that such horrible people are sticking to management positions and doing all bad things ki----g morale, ki----g engagement and causing good employees to leave the department.

Pretty obvious GF misses the mark when it comes to management. Case in point, AME removes a MSM with over 10 years experience and the trust and respect of his direct reports because he wouldn’t play along with leadership’s games. They then waited over two months just to install some JL4 dipshiiiite technician from a different module with no management experience as a replacement. Mind you this is the biggest AME team in terms of team members. I am actively seeking employment elsewhere and plan to leave as I can no longer tolerate the dip-shiitary of the Section managers on up.

The ATUL roadmap was a missed opportunity. The document had Nostradamus level insight, it was ignored.

TC's the best GM and CEO the company has had since its inception, says a lot. Was hoping the Tim Cook look alike would be the predecessor but he quit the company

Absolutely, let’s get rid of the ibm reject and his entire team of useless incompetent SLT cronies. GF has potential of becoming a great technology company attracting best in class talent. But for that we need a business aware technology leader at the very top . Not this embarrassing clown

It is too late probably. With exodus of talent pool from management positions in last few years, GF had opportunity to bring in remaining talent to leadership positions but they chose to bring those dead woods that had either failed as managers or waiting tp retire in GF as they could not get a job outside GF. With meritrocacy not being the criteria lot of boot lickers managers to go in management ranks as they used their a-s licking capabilities to grow in rank. It is easier when rank like VP is ruined by someone who never delivered in her life. Example is AME where only accomplishment she can count on her name is making good people leave the litho department when she was in litho. She did every trick including changing good managers to technical positions to ki-l competition for her. She is doing the same throughout the years this year. This caused all talented employees to flee and all rotten eggs to climb rank as there was vacuum everywhere in AME. The same happened in business development department as well as integration and facilities.
There is not much left in GF because it has reached to point where there is no return and no hope. GF either need sell asap or bankrupt to save some wealth of owners.
Just watch the demise of GF in 2023. I survived thin lay off round again but prepared to jump ship before next one.

OP - is right. And the one trick is dated. There is finally FINALLY some small backlash reaction to it. It’s small but it’s a start. Markets do are starting to see through it. Or that at least some ain’t right with Globalfoundries.

I would add getting rid and replacing of nearly all managers. Majority are terrible and don’t know how to manage. Most have never received such education or training. They are at best inept. There are exceptions but vast majority are just flat out horrible at being a manager. BUT all have lost the trust of their subordinates with their pushing of company narrative and facade agendas and programs/systems. They all need to go - clean slate to get GF team health and functioning again
