Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Trying to save your job?

Among those who encourage leaving Ford and those who say that anywhere is better than here, there seem to be very few who are actually trying to save their jobs. Despite everything, I still like this company and what interests me the most is how to save my job.

I work at Ford 2005 to 2008. At that time it was a bad company. So I did leave.
So just ask your self if you not happy leave. Simple and easy.
Now I am at FCA and I am not happy after its "Stellantis" so I am applying for new jobs and leaving soon.
Guys we have 401K so it means no strings attached.
Only thing I learned now in my mid 30s is don't teach anything to other engineers. I am even teaching wrong stuff to engineers offshore, or giving them bad and old information. It in your best interest if they are lost.
Companies saying you are a number so be one!

People often fall into the anti-change trap of "staying here is better than leaving". As someone that recently got a new job and left Ford I can assure you that it isn't true. There are better paying, more work-life balance, appreciate their employees places to work out there. Anyone scared to make the leap will end up stuck in a toxic, employees are a commodity environment.

The way Ford treated people in 2019, then again in April, June, August, and December of last year should be eye opening. Most trusted company my rearhole! Get out before they treat you like the sc-m they think you are.

I really love working for Ford and try every day to make Ford better, but its like an abusive relationship. The more I try the more they (LL5+) abuse me for their personnel pleasure/gain. Sad but true. Lets see what the LL2+ say we "deserve" and what they receive for our AICP on Thursday.

@iwp. Why do you feel the need to offer up your commentary here? Do you think it is of value to anyone?

Unless you invent cold fusion or how to make water combustible, you are just a tooth on a gear. Dont worry about saving your job. Just do your best and learn as much as you can and then high tail it outta here.

@OP. There is nothing a GSR can do today, unless part of the selected group of friends and family, to save his/her job, and even less chances to fix a wrong in the company.

If you want to retain control of your career, the best move is to leave the company. Moving to another position inside FMC may gain you some time, but sooner or later you'll be out or, the way we go, the company will go down hard.

You could also do nothing, wait for the pink slip (or the 15 minute meeting with the firing manager), collect your last check, and find the next job. IMHO, I believe that's exactly what many GSRs are doing now.

If you need to vent, or just tell a story that happened to you or in front of you during your stay at Ford, please feel free to use this website. After all, here we write about layoffs and quitting, but not so much about saving.

Good luck!

When you learn the difference between ”there” and “their” you will appear more intelligent.

OP, this forum is one giant echo chamber where people come to circle jerk about anything negative they can.

There are commenters here who seemingly don't recognize how sad there life actually is when they haven't worked for this company for ALMOST A YEAR. And continue to take time out of their lives to make posts here.

I'm all for venting frustration or trying to get the latest scoop on potential lay offs but the sky is literally always falling here. If you go back to older posts months or years previous, the theme is exactly the same.

The only time this forum is valuable is when layoffs are imminent or they've already occurred and you need support or info. Anything else is either trolling, wild speculation, or commentary from people who probably needed to be cut based purely on attitude alone.
