I left a few months before layoffs occurred. Spent the better part of 5 years in AME, Malta. I accepted a cash sign on bonus and a 10% increase above what GF paid me. Relocated to Marcy, NY - which the company paid for. Definitely a different company culture! Unlike GF, the new company is expanding and investing in the future. The company is still hiring in Marcy while GF is laying off and offshoring. It’s hard to see the light of day when you’re still working for GF, but once you’re out you realize there are much better options.

@ASML4Life

Bro just give it up. Rubbing what in? That you got walked and are still trying to justify to yourself that you're some kind of victim? Just take the last shreds of your dignity and go away. Enough with the BS posts and then you replying them. It's just embarrassing at this point. Grow up and move on.

@OP I was laid in December as well. Your post is accurate and I think that’s what has a few people upset. Almost like rubbing it in for those that have had no change in their work life. But this is website about layoffs and that is what this post is about.

The OP is “squeezing everything they can out of that place” why the double standard? GF is so toxic, its current and ex employees can’t even have civil conversation.. toxic

If you think I posted that to be insulting or demeaning, that's your opinion to believe. What I stated was truth, I know this to be fact. And yes, you are correct that one day my number will come up. It's only a matter of time. But, until that time comes, I intend to squeeze everything I can from the place. Safe travels to you.

@ 1ozh+1kTy1FMn That theory would make great business sense. But, We are talking about GF after all. They have to cut 200 million out of the operating costs. 2nd round is coming. They’ve trimmed the high dollar guys who had many years with the company. I had 12 years and made $46 hourly, which is considerably more $ than the current batch senior and principle techs. I can guarantee the next group to be promoted to Staff and Higher are/will be making much less. I also had great reviews my entire career, decent raises and never written up. GF is lowering and tightening its pay ranges. I know senior and principle techs who have been there for years without being promoted. My issue isn’t with GF employees/grunts but rather with GF SLT and the Culture. I’m willing to bet if/when you get laid off, you won’t be as vitriolic as you are now. It’s a humbling experience.

Actually, 90% of the people let go were either the troublemakers or low performers. The remaining 10% were based on salary and age. GF is actually gearing up to hire again, a layoff is the best way to get rid of deadwood no questions asked. That is why severences were so generous this time. The SLT was sneaky and eluded to cost cutting, when in fact it was a clean purge of low performers to avoid pips.

We all know who got let go. People that were experienced, made above average salary and who refused to brown nose. GF is all cheap seats and yes men now.

  1. realizing you were unwanted and expendable 😊, and trying to play it off as a net positive and trying to convince others of the same on an internet forum

@ ojz+1kTy1FMn technically all the folks who were laid off are still GF employees until mid March. Sounds like you should be upset with the company for not making them work.
