The 'talk the talk' vs. 'walk the walk'

Doers, that is, those who mostly aren't able to influence any decisions in this company, but who do all the work, are in a totally subordinate position compared to the talkers. They just talk and waste time. I still haven't met a talker who is also a great doer. The question is why Ford persistently favors those who only talk the talk?

Per the comments made about JF here, if traditional Ford process is to be followed then JF is most definitely due for a promotion.

It is rare than a hard working deserving Ford employee gets a promotion. At Ford however, if you sc--w up big or prove to be sub-par you get on a HR list for promotion. I seen it just recently, several times the past few years, and nearly fell of my chair seeing some of the rather shocking promotions in the bulk announcement email today.

Last comment is a good one. I knew JF was in over his head after the first townhall. His reading from the teleprompter was so bad that I thought I was watching an old SNL skit with his cousin Chris spoofing a company CEO. Yes, it was that bad. And has not improved.

JF is going into his 3rd year. So far not impressed. Lacks the following

  • HONESTY & INTEGRITY: The Supreme quality of leadership is integrity. JF is not trusted by the troops.
  • CONFIDENCE: As a leader you have to oozing with confidence.
  • INSPIRE OTHERS: Inspire your followers by setting a good example. Well senior management team blew that the week of the bonus with their actions and JF Investor interview.

COMMITMENT & PASSION; Sorry reading a teleprompter and your body language does not give people confidence in them.
GOOD COMMUNICATOR: JF is terrible. Downright boring. SNOOZER
DECISION MAKING CAPABILITIES: Decision taken by leaders have a profound impact on their people.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Everyone on the team is accountable for what they are doing.
DELEGATION & EMPOWERMENT: Empower your troops and delegate task to them.
CREATIVITY & INNOVATION: Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower. JF is an Elon want to be. Sorry not even in the same league.
EMPATHY: Leaders should develop empathy with their followers.

None of the above traits do JF demonstrate. Not to be trusted and in way over his head. His track record speaks to that. Your no ELON or a Bob Lutz JF. You are a bobblehead. BF sorry that Train Station is a mess. first a tech hub, then an event center then an apartment complex. Yeah, just what I want to live in something that looks like BERUIT. Like someone said Wall Street and the Free Press give you a pass.

Because Bill Ford is a talker, not a doer. So he hired another talker, not a doer. And so on, until we get to the ranks. IDK if you have realized it yet, but even in the ranks we are hiring talkers as well.

I call them done-yets...Always asking if you done.

The doers are wise to busy work or pie in the sky projections on how something will be fixed. Often saying it all pays the same.

A wise manager/supervisor will push back and protect doers but that is rare as hens teeth.
