Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Job search

Was CPMd in July. I know its only been 2.5 months but I have had no luck so far. 2 interviews reached final stages and everything else has been a rejection outright. I hate being pessimistic but it's getting worse day by day rejection after rejection. Anyone else from July or earlier still looking ? I fear with end of year and combined with AI the opportunity is closing fast

@ay you really are a POS for saying that. I've never been fired in my life and survived several rounds at Intel over the years. I worked hard, took risks, and did well in my career, but I realize that if I just happened to be in the wrong group, I could have been fired too. The unemployment rate for stem is sky high right now. It's not unreasonable to not be able to find a job after only a few months in this situation. For those looking, understand that and keep searching. You'll find a good opportunity soon.

I am in the same boat. Got laid off in July, applied to and interviewed for quite a few positions. No luck yet.

@OP Sorry to hear dude, it must be so frustrating. I know, I’ve been there. At least use the opportunity to get some downtime and some nice vacation and catching up on family and home projects. Based on some of the comments here you can see Intel is a nasty culture, good you got out of there. The job market is bad now especially in semiconductor. Don’t know your specific background but try to learn something outside of semiconductor area. All the best.

@cg there is truth to the claim that it is easier to find a job when you still have a job. If you are unemployed, whether it is from Intel or any other company, people wonder why. There are a lot of people looking for tech jobs right now so any doubt will get you dropped as a candidate.

Use AI to tune your resume for each job application. Try applying to companies that don't hire as many H1Bs. And finally dont limit yourself to the semiconductor industry.

I had been applying casually (I wasn't laid off just fed up with Intel) from about November of last year until July of this year, maybe 30 applications total, before I finally got an offer. You can find something; don't give up!

If that’s the case….. Intel made the right decision in July. Maybe your standards are too high for what you are qualified for??!
