I’ve been here over a decade and I still feel completely expendable. Loyalty doesn’t seem to matter at all. Even people nearing retirement aren’t shielded from cuts. Everyone should at least have an eye on other opportunities. Things can change overnight and it’s scary how little the company seems to care.

The execs make F5 into an amateur hour. The way they laid off people who are absolutely necessary to projects shows how little thought they put into the RIF. I have no respect for them. None. You have demoralized us into the ground. Lay awake at night thinking about how people you supposedly lead have no confidence in you.

Ageism is real. It’s the unspoken, allowed bias that certainly shows in layoff patterns and hiring trends. I personally heard a previous CIO say as much while he was in his role. He maybe gone, but the attitude isn’t. F5 follows the script. Layoff the older ones, rehire offshore or younger. Cut costs by cutting the better compensated workers. Tale as old as time.

@am At both of last company meeting and last town hall, leadership said the focus would be on hardware. Yet almost half of the hardware team was cut , and now we’re hearing those skills may need to be hired back after October? On top of that, so many vulnerable groups were disproportionately impacted. This doesn’t sound like a sustainable strategy.

@am No one here is “bitter” people are pointing out patterns - female managers, maternity leave, employees in treatment, many 40+. Do you disagree those cases exist? Or do you just think they don’t matter?
The fact is no job is permanent. Any employee thinks he or she can keep a job long term is totally blind and living in denial. AI/automation has been developed since prior to COVID. All we can do is stay marketable, keep our skill sets up to date, keep up with current evolving job market AND build a fruitful professional networks. Some one and some where there will be a hiring. We want to know the hiring manager before a job is posted. After October 2025, F5 will have to hire some skills that were RIFed back to support current HW development. Don't act stupidly bitter by posting negative things about F5. CEO is watching. He has to keep his job in order to get his C contract renewed. Keep your head held high. Don't listen to those nonsense posts about female or elderly workers. RIP was due to NEXT HW was eliminated. Customers/Users hate it so! Good luck!
40+ was hit hard.
Curious if anyone else has noticed any pattern , are 40+ years old employees or those nearing retirement being hit harder in these cuts?
I also remember earlier posts about female managers being targeted, women coming back from maternity leave, and even someone with an oncologist appointment. Does anyone know if those folks were also in the 40+ group?
