It’s crazy how TIAA almost never promotes from within and instead does external hiring, especially for senior positions. As a result, there’s no career path on top of no raises. And that’s on top of laying off existing employees. We’re ending up with huge knowledge gaps. No wonder the employee engagement survey results were so bad.

Hiring from outside is often because leadership is forcing a quota, or hiring known individuals that they have worked with in the past at other companies. It is very frustrating, especially if your department is run by someone who doesn't have a clue and they often hire people of the same ilk.
AI will replace wealth mismangement.
@OP Welcome to corporate America
Mant of these back office positions are easily replaceable with lower cost hard workers 1000s of miles away before AI outright takes over iŋ less than 5 years. Look iť up.
Agreed completely with OP.
Every promotion I’ve had here I had to apply for.
Meanwhile, every role I vacated was filled by a lazy internal transfer or inexperienced external new hire - both having the same knowledge gaps and having to call me for help which I can only be so patient with.
Probably one few things I am looking forward to my last day in a few months. Because then I will not answer the phone/texts.
Yeah. The People Pledge is such a joke.
TIAA doesn’t care about the engagement survey.
They only have an engagement survey because the Board requires it and most all Fortune 500 companies do something similar.
