@OP Yes as Operations jobs are typically on the menu for offshoring. Roles like operators System Admins, and DBAs are pretty much commodities these days. Notice how there has been a huge push to 1) get rid of the mainframe and 2) Get rid of on-prem databases like Oracle. Cheap Rent-a-DBAs can take over. Jury is out on whether people performing DBA duties on Cloud databases will be part of the exodus. Given all of the compliance regs I wonder what kind of assurances (real assurances) will be offered to show that workers in a foreign country who work for a contractor will be following the required regs? Google AI says the following:
Here's a general order of how IT jobs are typically offshored:
Routine tasks and back-office services: These are typically the first to be offshored, often to leverage lower labor costs. Examples include:
Data entry and processing.
IT support and help desk.
Basic software quality assurance and testing.
Software development: As companies gain experience and confidence in offshoring, they often move towards relocating software development to access specialized talent pools and potentially reduce development costs. Examples include:
Front-end and back-end development.
Mobile app development.
Software quality assurance and testing.
Higher-value and specialized roles: Finally, companies may offshore more complex and strategic roles as their offshore partnerships mature and trust is built. Examples include:
Software engineering and architecture.
Data engineering and analytics.
DevOps engineering.
