It looks like each desk will have a badge sensor so that time ratio at versus away from the desk can be measured.
Reports will be sent weekly to LL4 and action will be taken as needed.

I wonder how many badge sensors will get recalled.
I have a real hard time believing we have devolved into cattle inside a pen or even being in a meeting where this ridiculous idea would even be discussed.
@a1 Did it have a selector switch for vibration frequency selection, like "Ho Hum" or "That beats any roller coaster ride I've been on"?
Sarcasm noted.
Just chain to a desk, that will be more economical, seriously, stop posting BS
@OP. I doubt it, unless LLs are exempt of that. Most LLs are "busy" where you cannot find them, or walking around.
If this is true, it seems like a colossal waste of money.
As the previous post points out, managers assign work and are responsible for getting it done. That system has worked for generation.
This seems to be a sophisticated excuse for management not willing or capable of doing their job.
How about directors/managers/supervisors assigning work and deadlines and judging their work output volume and quality? Bosses are directly responsible for how much their employees are not productive/goof off. If employees aren't productive, it's their boss' fault as well. How about holding them accountable? I think that is the way to manage adults, not by desk time monitoring.
@a7+1jzt7hk0r They did a pilot of a system 20 years ago in a Ford building where you called in via phone and chose a seat to work in. You had to call in after 6 pm each day to find a seat for the next day. It was a flop.
Ford management has become the highest paid baby sitters...nice!
We were told it was for an app that will allow people to find a vacant seat to work in. You could find and reserve a seat. While you are at a seat your phone calls will be routed to that desk phone or your laptop depending on whatever setting you have on your phone.
Your management can get a view of where all their people are from the app.
It's not just the desks. Conference rooms, break rooms, everywhere. They will know your location in the building at all times. They'll even know how many bathroom breaks you take.
So much for “collaboration”.
It’s hard to collaborate in person when you’re chained to your desk. You would have to do everything remotely via Teams or your phone, which then begs the question, does it matter where you do it?
I’m skeptical about this report. I think it’s satire.
funny way for management to justify their job. Lets see a show of hands prior to COVID how did you attend a meeting? A) In Person or B) WEBX? This will not change anything regarding quality. As long as TVM has priority over quality and common sense the recalls will climb.
Finally a job priority for the LL4s to shine with in front of the VP Army
There is also a fl-tulence air monitor in the buildings now to gauge the smell of human passed gas in the cubicles to optimize air quality.
Is this what they've been installing this week? I've seen contractors going desk to desk drilling and attaching things to the desk.
