Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Are you kidding me?

LOL saw a guy bring in a folding lap table like you would eat breakfast in bed with. Plopped down in the hallway near a plug and worked. The LL5 walked by and just stepped over his legs. Maybe this is the new office seating. Fire code, what fire code?

Is this for real? Are things like this really happening?

Check in, grab a pool car, put some gas in it, go to test track, get a car wash, go to infield, walk tunnel to Xgarage, walk back to car, go to APTL, Pilot Plant, put more gas in ... Lots of places to go in Dearborn. Pretty soon your day is over.

Sit in car on video conference while at one of these out of office locations.

I worked at a job where this is exactly what happened. It was like 2 days a week. The company didn't have enough desks. The permanent staff had assigned seating. The contractors did not and had to find wherever they could to work. So the contractors would sit at a desk until the FTE would show up and ask them to leave. So, by late morning, there were contractors sitting all over, on the floor, huddled around the outlets recharging their cells and laptops. They would sit in meeting rooms until the room was actually needed for a meeting. It was... bizarre.. seeing this and trying not to step on people.

@OP

Sounds like malicious compliance. Good....good (in my best Emperor Palpatine voice).

Dude is probably making a statement. I’d rather sit on the floor than elbow to elbow in a call center environment.

Probably. It is Ford after all, but sure it was a "one off". I don't think the managers are expecting us to sit like that. It would be very uncomfortable for their necks to watch over our shoulders what we do.
