Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Manager/Lead at Cisco or Associate or Mid Level IC at around same pay?

I ask because I see a lot of people praising Cisco which I assume comes from the San Jose Office and wanted to get an idea if leaving is an option for me. They have managers that are supportive, but I don't get that.

Stay and get lead title or leave?

Being a Manager requires good communication skills. From your post I would suggest you look else where. Of course if those that you would be managing have the same communication skill level then you might be perfect fit.

@OP

I see a lot of people praising Cisco

if you are vegetarian Indian(higher class), you might consider staying to become Manager.. that is where most of the praising coming from.. but if you are a non-vegetarian you will remain IC forever(even after 20years) at Cisco so consider leaving.

Everyone, not singling anyone out but make sure you and your family use shower and use deodorant! No one wants to have a headache from your odor!

why do you care what other people think or priase?

if your overall career goal is to be a manager, consider staying. if you want to stay technically relevant and hands-on, then consider leaving for an IC role with the same money. if you're not happy and feel unsupported, then leave, regardless of what praise comes from san jose. leaving is ALWAYS an option and if you feel like you arent getting any support from your manager it may even be the BEST option
