Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

I could use some advice

I really want to leave State Street, and I just got a good offer with solid pay and benefits. The catch is, the new company had layoffs a few months ago. From what I can tell, layoffs aren’t common there, but it still makes me nervous. How risky is it to make the jump right now? I don’t want to leave one mess only to walk into another. Has anyone been in this situation before?

You've got an opportunity that most people wish they could have. Please take it and don't look back. Layoffs are, in most cases, not about company financial results. In fact , you can check for yourself as companies post positive results and still proceed with layoffs. For managers, layoffs are an opportunity to get rid of people they don't like without having to deal claims of s-x, racial or race discrimination.

This company has been doing layoffs for the last 20 years.
Do you dread going to work every day ?
Do you notice yourself being tired due to the lack of real sleep due to the stress

More frequent headaches, feeling sick to your stomach.

Take the new job. Don't look back. Jobs are going elsewhere in this company. Save yourself the stress of the bimonthly cuts.

Check out thelayoff.com from the other employer and see what current employees are saying. You can try Glassdoor and Indeed, but I think companies pay to have honest negative reviews removed.

I think most people in your shoes would take it, especially if it's a better offer than what you are making now. State Street is the most toxic employer that I have ever worked for in my 20 years working experience. We can blame poor leadership for it. A few can be good, but most are psychopaths. Their best skills are lying and backstabbing people to move up the corporate ladder. Then they hire and promote others that share the same traits, but not realizing they also been lied to during the interview process or working relationship.

I would bet a million you got much better pay. Depends how long you have been at state street and what the family situation is. I got let go in 2011 and its going to happen again. Do whats best for yourself always. The grass isn’t always greener in our field of work.
