Just got word that UHC O&E has a voluntary resignation program where you will be paid out a severance package depending on years of service and grade level.
DO NOT TAKE THIS OFFER! I repeat, DO NOT TAKE THIS OFFER!!! If you voluntarily quit, you will not get unemployment benefits. If you get laid off involuntarily, you will get unemployment. Some states pay out unemployment for upwards of 26 weeks, which is much better unless you are one of the people with more than 25 years of service at this company.
Dust off that resume, and get to looking for new jobs folks. Writing is on the wall. If there aren’t enough takers for this “program”, you will be laid off. Think of this period as your paid job search. Put minimal effort into work, and apply to jobs on the clock. Network with others like crazy, and get out of the healthcare and health insurance industry if you can. The economic downturn is coming, and you don’t want to be stuck employed at a company that is effected by several heavy governmental changes.
