Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Quiet quitting

I pretend to be busy even though I’m not. I barely work and no one knows what I do. Perks of flying under the radar.

I worked my a-s off while at Cisco. Had significant accomplishments but my incompetent managers took all the credit of my work . And then I was laid off. Looking back I am glad that I am not working in such highly toxic environment. My mental and physical health is much more important than being unemployed for a few months until I land another job.

@OP, good for you. Do as little as you can and work on your job search.

I used to work my a-s off. It’s just not worth it. The pay really doesn’t increase much and you still watch your friends and mentors who are great workers get laid off because they’re older and Cisco believes they get paid too much (when in reality they’re the only ones who were getting paid almost fairly). Just to be replaced with people offshore who don’t know what they’re doing for a fraction of the cost. No wonder why our customers complain so much. It’s hard to want to go above and beyond when the pay surely doesn’t and on top of that we have biannual LRs. Company does well? You get paid a tiny fraction of what the execs get to cash in. Company does poorly? You get to survive a layoff every 6 months if you’re lucky while the execs still line their pockets. So where is the incentive to bust your a-s

I thought everyone was already doing this…. I don’t get paid enough to be overworked. I make people wait.

Although this advice may work in larger departments. It’s a little difficult when a department only has a few people.

I think this is an understandable side effect of when you realize the company you work for doesnt give a sh-t about you so you stop giving a sh-t about doing any work for them and instead collect a check and do as little as possible while awaiting the end.
