Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Record profits

I wonder how much of that will come the employees' way.

Cheveron folks seem pretty happy with their recent bonuses, to just say.
That pricy CVX stock up almost 15% yesterday. XOM, around 8%.
Dead elephant bounces, but look at it!

@OP Very little, if any.

Across the industry, leadership at the executive level is aware that they’re in a period of prolonged stagnation that will be followed by rapid and irreversible decline. Nearly all major business decisions (hiring, equipment purchases, etc.) reflect this.

When was the last time you heard your boss discuss a growth strategy? Are you or your peers receiving promotion or training opportunities? When was the last time your group was involved in a capital-gains project of significant (> $10M) size? What do individual performance & financial incentives look like?

If you don’t have positive and affirmative responses to the above questions, your organization is in decline, and it’s time to craft an exit strategy.

That only applies to worker bees.
Just like the managers have different career prospects, different compensation, different amount of power .... they can also do trips.
That is how higher ranks operate.

@1pkl+1hXBgsTP I agree, amazing to see all management jumping back on long haul flights as soon as they could. Meanwhile, those of us with actual jobs aren't getting any opportunities to travel and have to continue as virtual teams. #inspire

Who’s being a troll. They need to get right with the folks who didn’t qualify for the 3% . Which are people close to the work who don’t have time for all the zoom minutia. I’m thinking 5% bonus and legit raises. Especially when i see people make it through evals that never provide value to the business they support just recycle paper PDS moments .

No, this is because Russia invaded Ukraine and other factors. Gas is high because 1 million barrels of oil refining capacity went permanently offline during the Rona debacle.

Should give every employee at least 3% every month during these profitable times.

Just raises, money goes to the nerdy Derwood and his buddies. People are getting PIP one day and they hire the next. It was required 3% across the board in Permian/Delaware basins.

The Russian/Chinese trolls are hard at work, as usual, trying to make us feel angry and like we have been cheated by the "elites". I, however, congratulate everyone for doing a great job, feel like I am well compensated, and enjoy the excellent return I am getting from my XOM stock.

I've been working my a$$ off for the company. More than 40 hours a week for sure. Doing the work of three people. And I have a very sick kid and the medical bills are nasty (I don't have the HMO and quite a few expenses are not covered by the PPO, unfortunately). So, I hope the management committee has some compassion on the employees that are still trying to move the company forward and does give us another bonus. I could use it to pay the doctors. I still have hope that Darren, Jack, and Neil will share a little bit of the bonanza with us. We'll see.

To be fair though Shell stock is doing way worse so if you own XOM shares you probably have been better off ...... If you don't own XOM shares .... well you are scr$#@

Almost 18 billion dollars in profit for a single quarter! Yet, my management makes me feel like Oliver Twist asking for left over crumbs on a daily basis.

Don’t let this company smoke screen you into thinking we need to “take one for the team” because the company is on hard times. It’s bu-----t. Always has been. Always will be.

Demand higher pay! Demand return of benefits! Demand more hiring!

If you think the execs are suffering with the rest of us, I have some sand to sell you in Qatar.

@OP+1hXBgsTP

Those providing the actual value to the company will see no improvement or trickle down from these economic heights. The only time we will is when our comparators increase their employees compensation and XOM have to play catch up. Executives on the other hand will be getting a big fat bonus $$$$$$

None. Just going to buy back stock because corporate America sees value in that for some reason.
