Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

General Electric-->It's Still Not Too Late

I love my country a great deal and I want see a revival of the magnificent quest for achievement the U.S. is renowed for. We were once leaders in technology, science, and to some degree... meaningful philanthropy. GE used to be such an organization!!!
GE has given the world-->> light, flight, and power. How is it now that this company won't even respect the employees who work so hard to support this organization? If GE leadership had any conscience, then every time they board a yacht, or a Learjet, or relax with their own families in the Tropics, they would think of the hardworking employees they pi---d on to enjoy the happiness they think they have earned. We have families also--we want to see our children have decent healthcare because we love our kids too. When enough going to be enough?

@sry+1g5GdkvZ well said! It’s not the golden oldie days where everyone stuck together for the good of the whole. Instead it’s the everybody for themselves days. Get moving and stop waiting for the easy to come back and land into your lap so you can hold onto to the old coat tail days, pay and benefits. Union members today don’t understand what the oldies had to put up with prior to getting half of what you got handed to ya. It’s gone, it wasn’t appreciated or protected by ya, cause everyone knew nothing but to scream for more and more right away.

I just did a quick "survey of the market" and found that the average pay for ceo is about 500k to 1.2M per year. That was really a good suggestion.

@tbw+1g5GdkvZ Do you mean all employees or just the ones on the shop floor doing actual work? Are we to assume that pay and compensation only matter to people at the upper end of the pay scale? You’re clueless.

Employees are NOT motivated by compensation like pay for healthcare or retirement plans. People come to work because of the mission statement and inclusion. Our executives deserve everything they get for their stellar contributions. Across the board, the market trend is for non-executives to not have families or smaller families. The company is very competitive and regularly surveys the market. If you don't like it here, maybe you need to seek other opportunities outside. But rest assured that the grass is not really greener.

Hopefully HR and benefits will improve post-split for most or all.

@OP+1g5GdkvZ - I’m pretty sure the US has achieved a lot without GE since flight/light/power came about 100+ years ago.

Americans are living longer due to US developed medicines…is that not a great achievement?

Americans developed GPS, which gave our military an advantage and allows our emergency services to locate people in need of help…is that not a great achievement?

Ever heard of Amazon, Apple, Microsoft and Tesla…all US companies who are deeply integrated into our lives.

Listen I agree that GE is penny pinching its employees…I’m pi---d as well. You must be a GE lifer. GE is not the US. Dreams do come true outside of GE. That’s what I love about ‘Murica baby!
