Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

DW Holiday Message

How tone deaf can a manager be. How did this guy ever become CEO of one of the premier American companies. I have worked for other Fortune 100 companies. I have never seen someone so unpolished and out of touch.

Guys, seriously, give him a break. He doesn’t get paid enough. Be sure to send him a Christmas card with a little cash to help him through the holidays, with all the inflation.

@OP From the transcribed text posted by @1ivi, this looks and reads like a standard sanitized corporate PR statement, and exactly what would one would expect from a senior executive in this day & age.

If you’re pi---d-off at the fact that he isn’t showing any humanity, keep in mind that many executives, probably including him, land somewhere on the spectrum of psychopathy. It doesn’t help that MBA programs train managers in techniques of administrative dehumanization.

DW showed some real leadership in that video. I am personally inspired and hopeful for the future. Feels like we are back on the right track. Merry Christmas y’all.

Corporate results - disastrous
Corporate strategy - nothing smarter than reducing expenses by gutting the workforce
Ability to inspire confidence to investors and relate to employees - zero
DW is an absolute disaster. He’s got NOTHING. Just a drain of company money, a worthless figurehead.

After watching this, it’s clear P&GA will be working over the holidays to issue talking points to managers to communicate why EM is a good place & there is future growth!

If EM continues to PIP 10% a year & no new hiring = no growth.

The only thing that will make us employees, shareholders, and society happy is if he quits.
His lies caught up to him and he doesn’t even begin to acknowledge the most important one: it’s a no-carbon future, not a low carbon one.
The greenwash is not going to save him (us?) - fake reduction targets met or not. None believes them.
But none dares to tell him the truth.

Damn, how bad was the other guy in CEO horse race? Is this the best T-Rex could do?
Video reminds me of being forced to apologize to someone by my parents.

Here is the full text of the video. I used some free speech-to-text transcription app, so it probably has plenty of grammatical, spelling, or other errors.

=====

As you watch this, many of you are preparing for the end of the year holiday season, wherever you are in the world, and however you celebrate, I want to start by wishing you a happy, safe and restful time with family and friends.

These past two years have been exceptionally challenging for a company. For many of you personally, and for your families. I deeply appreciate your commitment to our company. And the professionalism you demonstrated throughout this tough period. I want to take a few minutes to put the appreciation I feel and the words to again, we had more than our share of what I would call customary challenges that come with our business, natural disasters. Market volatility, supply chain disruptions, and dynamic government policies.

As in the past, you successfully managed through these challenges while demonstrating a standard of excellence unmatched in industry.

On top of these challenges, we experienced a once in a century global pandemic, with an unprecedented impact on our industry and Company, which continues to be felt even today.

Even more devastating is the loss of lives and the grief experienced by friends and family.

My heart goes out to all of you who have directly suffered such a loss.

Through all of this, you've shown tremendous resilience, a hallmark of the men and women of ExxonMobil. You've continued to deliver the products and services billions of people around the world desperately need you have made personal sacrifices, overcome challenges and found solutions to problems we've never seen before.

You've done yourselves and our company proud. It's an honor to lead this extraordinary team.

Your hard work has paid off and 2021 we've seen significant improvements across our businesses and functions, delivering impressive results operationally, and financially.

The work we started several years ago to help society move to lower emissions future is also paying off.

We're on track to achieve our 2025 emissions reductions planned by year end for years ahead of schedule.

And we've committed ourselves to aggressive new greenhouse gas reduction plans by 2030.

Leveraging the venture work we started in 2018. We've announced plans to invest more than $15 billion in lower GHG initiatives over the next six years ahead of us we have enormous opportunity and responsibility. Our industry and in particular our company are at the center of society's vital debate over how to combat the challenges of climate change. In this important discussion, we bounced the interest of many stakeholders, global communities and governments of both developed and developing countries, investors and customers and importantly, our own families and future generations. I know our company will play a leading role in finding solutions to this critical societal challenge. That's what we do and what we've done throughout our history. As we move forward, we must help ensure that the right balance is struck. While the fight to mitigate the risk of climate change is vitally important. So as the work to meet the growing needs of people around the world, as global populations grow and people become more prosperous, the need for energy increases. Energy use and quality of life are inextricably linked. That's why we must continue our work to provide affordable products that are essential to modern life while tackling the challenges of climate change. That means continuing to invest in our existing upstream, downstream and chemical businesses. It also means leveraging our core capabilities and competitive advantages to develop opportunities to reduce emissions and grow our low carbon solutions business. And it means working with governments around the world to develop thoughtful and effective policies to support solutions. This is important work, where we have unique abilities and where we can make significant contributions we are well positioned for the challenges and the opportunities that lie ahead.

All of us have an important role to play across all businesses, functions and jobs, the core capabilities and competitive advantages that we've built over decades and each of us contribute to today underpin the success of our current businesses, and will be essential to successfully achieving a lower emissions future.

The strength of our approach is anchored in a consistent set of capabilities, our advantages and technology scale integration, functional excellence, and most importantly, all of you are people.

These capabilities addressed the fundamentals of today and tomorrow's businesses.

Our approach provides optionality and gives us significant flexibility to respond to the uncertainties of an evolving and dynamic world and importantly ensures we are well positioned with a very bright future, irrespective of the path taken by society. I'm looking forward to the years ahead, and the role our company and all of you will play in meeting the essential needs of an evolving society.

As you prepare to take a well deserved break. Please remember to stay safe to take care of yourselves and each other. As you reflect on the year and what is ahead. I hope you take pride in what we have and will accomplish. Thank you for all you do for my family. to yours. We wish you a happy holiday and a very prosperous new year.

@fnu+1ejWicOv given the new ranking process if XOM, managers, recruiters, and HR are still selling career to potential new hires they are selling another lie. With new ranking process and yearly contracts there is no long term career for anyone except you are board member, DW & his minions, and sponsored but unless HiPos.

Alert: Potential new hires or college recruits, please do yourself a favor and DO NOT fall for the career and pension carrot thrown by XOM. It won't have any substance and you will regret it later. Instead look for another employer that would genuinely respect and care for its employees.

"sacrifices of the employees" or Sacrificing employees? Aaa! It is the later. Sacrificed employees for grandmas dividends, sacrificed employees for DW and his minions stock units and compensations, sacrificed employees via layoffs and PIPs, sacrificed employees any an all ways DW could. Thank you DW, I am so ecstatic and proud of your and your minions accomplishments! They are nothing but disgusting. I wonder what TG would have to say, last year her Talent lead minion graciously told people of a secret call how once she was let go or was going to let go during Christmas time and how she manned up the event self reminding her that she was grown up and should handle it with her head high. Well bow she's retired with millions from XOM. Another lier, glad she's gone.

It isn’t called Christmas. It is just “A video message from DW” on the XOM homepage. It is about 6 minutes long saying how that XOM has had a great year in trying times and the success is due to the professionalism and sacrifices of the employees. He then encourages us to soldier on to greater heights.

He didn’t mention that despite a banner year at such great cost, they didn’t give much of a raise.
