Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

OK, Please let's everyone get real.

So....as a retired SF person, I have a question..... Does anyone who is actually still employed there believe all the horses**t that is put up on this site?

I retired 3 years ago after 20 years at the 'Farm', and after having worked at several different 'careers' in my lifetime, I can honestly say that State Farm, in spite of all the bullsh** that you see here, is undeniably one of the better places to work that I have ever encountered.

Are there problems there? Of course. Only an id--t would think not.

Could things be better there? Of course. Only......(see above)....

Name a place of employment where none of that is true. Of course you can't. Why? Because there aren't any .... DUH........

If you were born independently wealthy (Damn!! Not me...) would that be better than working at the Farm? Well.....DUH....

So, to those of you who are so convinced that SF is the worst thing that ever came down the pike, I suppose the only thing I could possibly say is....

Start yout own, new, insurance company. Do what GJ did. Do it better. Show everyone how much better it can be.

Based on some of the stuff I see here, I'm sure seversl of you believe you have the stuff to do it.

Good Luck!

The web is full of credible and false information. Some of us are calling out the false info here because we are simply sick of it.

Apparently your big retirement checks made you delusional.

@kuy The reason Claims seems to have 'under-educated' and employees with the 'least knowledge' as you stated is because the training and resources are extremely inadequate for new employees. The company has run off so many experienced employees that the new employees are left drowning and the result is what you see on this website.

If you think these are anonymous posts you are really naive. The site gets financial support from SF and guess what SF gets in return .

Yes you should believe it. Most of the stuff posted here is an actual reflection of what’s happening.

Surprised too. They certainly capped the use of slido and anonymity due to not being able to control the narrative of what is on the minds of associates

I can't believe State Farm doesn't file suit against this site and shut it down

@OP+1egOkT8r- Unless you can tell everyone what job you held, I'm not sure your opinion matters. Claims and underwriting are understaffed and more so since you retired. If you were/are in one of those do nothing support roles, it probably was/is a good deal. Try posting out of claims for one of those cake jobs. Not happening once they have you.

SF WAS a very good company to work for, the work culture and benefits werealmost as good as a government job; career longevity was a norm. OP, you retired 3 years ago which is 3 years after the great purge began in 2015 when SF went to Enterprise Operation from Zones operations. Prior to 2015, SF work treatment of employees was better than many insurance companies; however, today's SF work culture isn't better than many insurance companies out there. Pension is gone for new hire in 2021.

Oh look, another back in my day post. The funny thing about claims is , without us, you wouldn’t have those easy analysis positions to support us. Just remember, when people start leaving after the bonus is paid in the spring , people will have to fill those jobs. But just like everything else SF does wrong, you won’t care until it impacts you …points system anyone ?

I am leery of anyone who comes to a website like this to say anything even remotely positive about their employer. Its like going to vegan.com to say how much you love meat.

Claims people are the worst. Self centered, all about me, under educated with the least knowledge about the insurance industry than any other group of employees. Whiners and complainers throughout. Might make more sense to ship all claims functions to Idia as Allstate is doing.

I've worked at adm, Illinois power, cat, Foster and Gallagher, city government and others. State farm was the best.

I agree it has gone downhill lately, but I'm no longer at the other positions so I can no longer compare.

I am not in a claims position, and I think most complaints are from there. But on the flip side, it might also be the claims people complaining, if that is the case, have not been in the job market long enough to know how to make comparisons to other companies.
