I am writing to request the corporation restore an air travel policy that was in place prior to February of 2021.
As far back as I know the EM policy for traveling between Houston and Alaska was to fly business class. If an employee was not able to fly business class (sold out), or wanted to fly coach class to sit with family, they were require to get approval from their Supervisor. I understand this policy was related to Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), and also to ensure the employee was well rested and able to perform when arriving in Alaska and returning from Alaska. When times got tough financially for the corporation, they changed this policy and now employees are required to fly coach between Houston and Alaska. I would like the corporation to consider restoring the policy. Thank You.
Below are the approximate flight times between Houston and Alaska.
Houston - Anchorage - 10 hours (7 hours direct in Jul-Aug)
Houston - Fairbanks - 11-12 hours
Houston - Deadhorse (Prudhoe Bay) - 13-16 hours
