I have seen since 2018 that was the feedback. Not a good fit you may need to leave. Or maybe this just isn’t the place for you. Maybe this isn’t the place for such middle managemt and self absorbed people.

@OP Six threads below this one there’s a thread claiming there will layoffs in December. That OP claims to be middle management, which is weird, since middle managers don’t usually know about layoffs this far in advance.

The posts going up about layoffs serve no purpose. Not even for trolling. People just don’t care anymore.

Wish this was true but sadly at the gulf coast site today we were told we are staying with the present model. Functional would have scrapped 4 a-s clown positions but alas they continue to preserve the lame positions and continue to shrink engineering. Go figure. We have an inverted pyramid with leaches on our back every where. The workers continue to get hammered and worked to death while management continues to preserve themselves and enjoy the free ride.
When management was told they are making it very difficult on the engineers, the response was well maybe they don’t belong here. Poor excuse for a manager much less a human being. Forget this place!

I do not believe there will be a general layoff in November because so many business lines are holding employee forums to convince employees not to leave EM.

Any reduction in November would be middle management reduction that seems long overdue. Erase at least one layer of unneeded sponsored id--ts that take credit for other people’s ideas.

I believe the employee forums target is to retain talent not anyone. There will be layoffs but for the basis of the ladder.

If you know the actual US attrition rate please share it.

Poorly is the key at XOM. Also, high attrition in F&L is perhaps as a result of people finding out their a large part of F&L work and jobs are being offshore to MSPs in India.

Exxon to cut U.S. workforce by up to 10% annually - Bloomberg News

June 21, 2021 (Reuters) - Top U.S. oil producer Exxon Mobil Corp XOM.N is preparing to cut its U.S. office workforce by between 5% and 10% every year for the next three to five years, Bloomberg News reported on Monday citing people familiar with the matter.

The job cuts will target the lowest-rated employees relative to peers as part of an ongoing performance assessment program and will therefore not be classified as layoffs, the report said. The affected employees have not been notified yet, the report added.

The planned reductions come at a time Exxon is facing a massive task of re-charting its course to appease investors frustrated with the company's apparent overspending. The company lost three board seats to hedge fund Engine No. 1 after last month's annual shareholders' meeting.

Exxon spokesperson Casey Norton said the company has had this performance assessment process in place "for several years" and it's "entirely unrelated to any workforce reduction plans."

The company last year announced plans to reduce its global workforce by 14,000 by the end of 2021. Exxon had around 72,000 regular employees as of end-2020.

Man I would love for a package, I would be out of here. They should just offer the package, let those that want out leave, and then start building the morale of the company and not fire 10% every year. This isn't that hard... it is amazing to me how poorly everything is run here.

I have heard no such thing, and would be somewhat surprised since attrition is clearly a problem, at least in the F&L commercial and trading group, and from the posts on this website I would assume other groups as well.

Personally I would welcome a layoff if they allow for volunteers and it comes with a package similar to what was given last year to those who were involuntarily separated. I expect no such luck as it would trigger a stampede for the exits.
