It’s kind of dumb for them to have all these empty buildings just sitting there barely used. And since over 34 million people in the US have been vaccinated so far and COVID cases have plummeted, isn’t it about time to start bringing employees back to the office at least half the week? Otherwise why waste money on the buildings?

Employees will be back in the miserable buildings within the next few months so get over it.
Everyone will be vaccinated so the risk is minimal. You will much greater risk going to a grocery store or restaurant.

i aint going back to be packed like sardines so the entire floor gets sick at once, that is ludicrous , maybe 40% well spread out may work but even then that is risky , the amount of risk getting in the building , touching elevator buttons , opening doors etc
Texas and Arizona are opening up 100%. Wonder what will happen in Dallas and Phoenix here.
Much like the vaccine, I will gladly allow those that need it and want to go back into the buildings tomorrow my spot in line. Just trying to be a good neighbor.
the buildings cant have more than 50% usage in any case so its impossible for all to come back any time soon , vaccine or not and since we were packed like sardines in the first place its more like 40%, we exceeded building capacity in the name of saving money and subleased one of the buildings

@biyg to clarify this statement, there are 11-13 LOC buildings that will sit empty until they are subleased or the original lease runs out. The only buildings in question of being repopulated are the hubs and Bloomington. From a business perspective, the rent on these buildings is a fixed cost, so whether you sit in your cube or at home it cost SF the same in rent. If they could figure out how to get out of the leases on the hubs they may be able to allow continued WFH but my personal opinion is they do not want to continue to allow WFH. They have had to grudgingly accept it as a necessary evil during this time period. My personal opinion is that they are chomping at the bit to get people back into the hubs because if they can't see you they can't trust you. And if they can see you they only trust you as far as they can throw you.
If you think they’re actually going to let everyone keep working from home and have the buildings just sit there empty while paying for them you are dreaming. I imagine by June everyone will be back in the buildings since most people will have been vaccinated by then and the virus slows in the summer.
WFH and moving - is it possible? Nowhere to come back to unless HUBS.

while SF can make vacinations mandatory they are also liable for any side effects, meaning they can be sued if anything goes wrong, from a legal standpoint they can force employee but i suspect they will strongly encourage it while not strictly enforcing it or calling it mandatory so they can have it both ways, and not be liable for either, and the ones that do not get vaccinated stay home.
if they highly encourage and make dummy employees think its mandatory when its not they can then say it was voluntary and not be liable for anything, sort of how sometimes they want people to commit to OT but when asked if its optional they skirt the question and provide non answers to avoid calling it mandatory.
Personally I don’t wanna rush in to the office after being vaccinated and have to wear two masks and stay 6 feet away from everybody and if I cough be escorted out or something, I’m in no rush to I be in the office.
Mandatory vaccines will be the norm.
It will most likely settle out that a.) You can choose not to be vaccinated and b.) They can choose not to let you come back.
State Farm will have to deal with many State and local jurisdictions on this. But they can’t be expected to let an employee back in if it means they can be sued for it by another employee.
Yes employers can legally require a vaccine. Some employers like hospitals have done it for years and of course the military requires a variety of vaccines. The EEOC has already weighed in and labeled COVID a “direct threat” to the workplace which provides employers an interesting dilemma. By not requiring vaccinations they may face liability from workforce exposed by fellow employees.

I do not believe they can make you. I am not sure if it is legal to fire you if you do not want to get.

On a call earlier today the topic was mandatory vaccines. The decision rests with 12th floor but the recommendation was to require one.

We will likely be back 80% of the time beginning this summer. Double masking will ensure safety. Cant happen soone enough. The same people that vehemently object are out and about at dayton 500 races.
Now that Covid has been unleashed on humanity we should all huddle together in the office and continue to breathe the same recirculated air that way we can watch as the virus starts on the rightside of the room on Monday and finishes spreading on the left side bt Friday.
Most companies have already been making people come back into the buildings, and with more and more people getting vaccinated and infections going down rapidly, it’s just a matter of time before employees will have to come back into the office.
Everyone needs to get back into the buildings. We are one big happy family and we need to see each other’s smiling eyes as we walk through the wonderful hallways excited to get to work.
What??? This posting does not even make a lick of sense. After announcing closure of every LOC in the country, employees removing everything from their desks and selling off/reconsolidating the office furniture MT is going to do an about face and decide to bring everyone back? What are you smoking dude? Dream On.
Reality of all this is that most people have been more productive with WFH. I know hard for some to believe but the facts show this as well as agent production and focusing on their business. I’m sure there are the na- sayers that think cutting the support layers will solve things , just the opposite cut the leadership that do not add value to bottom line.

OP if you want to go back sure go for it , I aint dying just because you want to go back to the building to be packed like sardines, in our site they sub leased one the buildings and packed us all on the remaining ones to the point we had people in hallways with desks, closets , meeting rooms and walkways , we had no room to spare, break room always packed full if you wanted to eat you had to eat at your desk or outside on the pavement.

when a high percentage of people are vaccinated and we achieve herd immunity we can talk but that's nowhere near that yet and at the pace that is going wont happen easy until end of this year and that is if things don't start getting out of control , we got spring break coming up so look for another spike, then memorial day etc... we are only doing good on cases because there is literally no holidays so far.
I think all the analysts should have to go back into the office full-time considering half of them are absolutely useless. They are already overpaid id–ts who do the bare minimum when in the office, so you can only imagine who lazy they must be during WFH.
