I want to go work for them. Had an interview with them 6 months ago. They offered me a position but said i had to train 6-12 months in Taiwan before relocating to AZ because their site is still being built. I was curious if anyone has applied recently to see if they are offering on site training yet or not. Thank you!

Training in Taiwan may only be mandatory until the new Fab is built. Can try reaching out to them when they're up and running. Good luck either way.
beware of TSMC... high expectations and lowball offers. I think for anyone with seniority and/or RSUs incoming at GF, a move might not be worth it, as I think @Jucj tried to highlight. I heard the same from a friend:
- no RSU, but long term incentive structured in a weird way
- cash sign on bonus, but not grossed up
- relocation is OK depending on your housing sitch. Cost of living in North Phoenix/Glendale/Peoria will go up for you. Your commute will too, probably.
- strict security measures (no personal cell phones)
- less paid time off in most cases
- slightly better 401k match
I got my offer from TSMC. Lukewarm TC, benefits and perks. It's about a 15% raise, with a better bonus structure and no RSUs and no sign on. Overall difference in TC is about $30k with March raise and RSUs TBD which will eat away at that. Relo package is OK with standard obligation. 6 months training in Taiwan. PTO at TSMC is favorable in the longterm, more holidays, decent vacation after a couple of years. Not sure about other leaves (medical, parental), but I would guess GF wins out
depends on the role... the job I applied for made no mention of having to travel in the description, but during one of my interviews they suggested a few months for knowledge transfer. It didn't seem like an offer would be dependent on it, though. We'll see
Yes they do, for up to 1.5 years. You have to live in a dorm with a curfew and visitor ban though
applied and my application status changed today... so no outright rejection yet. Looks like they relaxed their MS/PhD requirement for some positions too.
To be honest, though, I'm lukewarm on joining TSMC, especially because of AZ and the culture I assume will be brought from Taiwan. It's a winning culture but at the expense of work life balance. Who the manager is and their answers to questions I'd plan to ask would strongly influence my choice.

they are sending ppl to Taiwan for training and you have to be with them for at least 2 yrs after training else you will have to pay back the cost ..
