Thread regarding Saudi Aramco layoffs

Expat Layoff Run Extended or Rumor Only

Hearing again that the expensive westerners and sometimes truly and only experienced personnel left are still being let go. Seeing the classified ads list for furniture and automobiles grow longer. However, I haven’t heard any names (western names).

@10fhi+1v6Uqep4....Amen! Preach it!
Let the Saudi's cozy up to the Chinese. This nation two faced hypocrites will soon bankrupt itself as the US drives down oil prices with DRILL BABY DRILL!
Message to remaining Western expats....SAVE BABY SAVE!

@Fhoi+1v6Uqep4 Response: I am going to take a guess. You are one of two things in SA (saudi aramco / saudi arabia). #1 moslum or #2 “Other”. If you’re an Other you are treated as such…all aspects as soon you enter the polluted airspace. Other is listed on every document (company or country) and database. Read an abbreviated version of the koran before committing…like their cousin’s book you are not human. Lying to your face is required. Deception paramount to qualify. Go slave it up or convert (forced conversion is the only way the two ideologies persist). Converting gets you a few benefits but take a look at the hijri followers from other countries that fell for the low IQ text, lint on the coat tail of a real faith. They dont get to #1, just somewhere between. I’m glad the rest of the world is starting to shut the doors on this 0 value export (the people, not the oil).

@Jrro+1v6Uqep4 - That's classic British sarcastic humour that may have washed over non British eyes. The real experiences and stories I have still make people shudder in total disbelief.

When I arrived, from the USA, I was put in a tiny house with broken AC units in the middle of summer, chirping fire alarms, and a toilet that barely flushed. Turns out all of my pipes fully disintegrated in the heat only a few weeks after I arrived, which is why the toilet had issues.

Maintenance people started to know me by name, and after ten years, it still was the same. Those houses are only getting older, and the infrastructure is, too. I'm sure they aren't fixing it.

I have to wonder about the GC of the person claiming to be from the UK as well. 15+? Then it might be excellent for you right now. Give it time.

Going to a rave? First class treatment? From the UK?

Clearly written by chat GPT. No actual anecdote or attempt at disproving the accusations.

For me when I first came I spent a week living in a house with no running water. I had literally zero support until a fellow expat helped me out. My management didn’t lift a finger. Go figure.

I joined the company in July from the UK and the experience from hiring to arriving in the Kingdom has been first class. I have amazing colleagues and Saudi managers. Don't listen to the negative comments. Come to Saudi it's amazing. Next week I'm in Riyadh attending a 3 day rave.

Sounds like a local using Chatgpt. Still waiting on an answer about the 11 dead in your marvelous company. Did they get a good work life balance. Check SLS so you can get your facts straight before you come back promoting your company.

Sounds like a lot of BS talk on this thread. Aramco is the best company in the world, best work life balance.

More layoffs last week. Finance is what we heard. Heard not from the inefficient government entity but from word of mouth. Communication is nil as usual from the eye in Dhahran’s black tower. This layoff has been a long, slow convert or leave pogrom.

I don't know if this is the quiet before the storm or not. But I completely agree with the previous post.....never, ever trust someone from HR (expat or Saudi). It does not matter if they are from corp, the Admin Areas or departments. It does not matter if they have been with Aramco for 10 days or 10 years. And it does not matter if you consider them close friends. They are there to support Aramco and cover their own backs. They will lie to you. They will backstab you. If you are close to an Aramco HR person, walk away fast! The more they know about you, the worse it is for you. All HR expats own thobes.

Got quiet en Novembre. I guess the kapos in HR got Thanksgiving off. Don’t trust’em. Almost all of them. They will be the last to get the sandal. The few still here are here for a reason. And it’s the opposite of providing you, expat, sound advice or support in any way. Beware: Matza, Lamont…their salary and PMP depends on your increasing unhappiness and stolen benefits. They are quite good at what they do.

You guys sure paint a bleak picture of being an Aramcon these days. I feel positively blessed for having worked and lived there in a simpler time. Although it felt difficult and unfair at times.

@bsfk+1v6Uqep4 truth. People have no idea how bad the packages have gotten over the years too. I don't know how they recruit anyone.

Also from what I hear, when you're laid off, they won't tell you anything about your severance. I know a few people who've been laid off this year and they all have had a similar experience. They left kingdom and still didn't know what they were getting.

Talk about kicking people when they're down.

This postingPoS below represents accurately what it is like working in the most discriminating country and company in the he-l hole ME.

“👋🏿 bye-bye”

That is what you get when you arrive. While you work. And when you leave.

Respond appropriately when they vacation in the clean world.

I'm would love for some of these people who got laid off to talk to the press about what's really happening in the company.

I know it won't happen, but I would certainly welcome the entertainment.

Yes, it layoffs continue. The latest employee this week was burnt out from the lack of inspiration but still a better performer, real oil & gas experience, and an education (several expat hires both moon trackers and Gregorian/Julian in the last couple of years do not even have a degree, they get in on forgery or aramco HR exemptions because aramco cannot hire at such low offers) than the PR diversity hires and “management”. Those hanging on will need to up their game setting all pride aside and saying Aboo at every opportunity. Bend the knees and kiss the men perfumed in ladies garments or stand up and flee to clean air and culture. Good luck for those of us left that are stuck or too used up to get a real job.
