Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

Chemicals

Chemicals is that one division that’s like the kid that sat at the back of the class and not knowing what the he-l was going on most of the time. Always asking to borrow a pencil, asking what page we were on, ate glue, and wet himself until age 13.

The other kids [product lines] were instructed by the teacher to make sure they made Chemicals feel like they were just like them. It was easier said than done, because Chemicals felt the need to vehemently point out that he was more important than anyone else when things were down for everyone else. He’d brag and brag about it all the time. Even when he was at the urinal yapping the whole time, standing there, with this pants pulled all the way to the ground 😒 🙄

The patents on the wall were gone long time ago. The people do actual work for the patents were laid off. The patent thief survived and develop new ridiculous new products. This is chemical.

Patents still filed, there are really smart ones left. Too bad they’re left on the vine to rot because of no clear career progression in BKR.

Ask them to provide you your role responsibilities and list what is needed to advance to the next pay grade.

Come back and let us know what they tell ya

There was a time when experience and education mattered. Usually, the leaders where seasoned vets (actual military vets quite often) that did their time in the field, in front of customers, that built the framework of how things are getting done even today. They were there because they made impact to the business.

Yes - most of them were white males. Older white males. Most of them hired minorities and females and built their teams to make impact to the business based off of their contributions and expertise.

Then the BS happened. Requirement to have females in leadership regardless of the years with the company and experience. Favoritism with directors and other senior leaders, then HR Buddy Buddy with only select leaders. Then the groups became cliquish and morale sank. The seasoned leaders retired if they were lucky, and NEVER replaced with anyone better (if they were even replaced).

Then everyone began to wear “several hats” to which no one can really multi-task but rather half-ax’s all of it.

If you speak up against HR you’re out. If you speak up against your manager, you’re out. If your Boss sees you as a threat, you’re out. If you’re getting old >55 you’re out.

Basically, it’s nowhere near as good as it was. They can decorate a tuuurd with lights and glitter, it’s still a tuuurd. So, if they start saying there’s a nice Christmas party or summer family bash, or whatever just know that they will pay for it with your salary once they begin the layoffs again.

Hey! Do chemicals still have all those patents on the wall in the canteen? How many of the names on those patents still work for baker? How many of those patents are recent?

Makes you think.

I would probably fit in at chemicals if all you need to know is how to use people. I frequently use strippers and call girls. They say I’m the best, but I forget their names on my way back to work.
I do respect them though, they are essential workers.

Chemicals only knows how to brag but never respected its people. Their motto, you dont need to know anything, you just need to know how to use people!

What is it that chemicals is responsible for, 1% of the revenue, 99% of the b*tching?

lol!
Chemicals = Rudolph the red nosed reindeer. Just you wait till “one dark and stormy night”. Then you’ll all see.

Just propping everyone else up. Paying the bills (when’d we last make a profit?).

You drink that koolaid. Priceless.

Chemicals pay the powers bills when oil is down. With that being said, the past couple of years' leadership in chemicals is pretty much lacking. If they got a good shake-up and focus on the customer's goals and their employees, they would be much further ahead than making fancy powerpoints for Maria.

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Did you apply for a role within Chemicals and not get it? If you are going to throw out those claims on a board then include solid references or facts.
