Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Tilak is creating a Good Ole Boy department that is extremely toxic.

Tilak is the most condescending, anti-woman, self-absorbed, toxic, bully of a CIO we have ever had. Seems impossible with the clowns we have had in the past.

I'm sure many are hypnotized by Tilak's lame comedy routine he puts on during townhalls.

Tilak brings in his own boys that tear down departments (reorg) and get rid of some of the best leaders we have ever had.
They have "secret boys meetings" where they plan reorgs, firings, outsourcing, budgets etc.
If you are a legacy employee or leader in IT/DDAT you are just a pawn and checkmate is coming (game over).

Now our CISO is "retiring"? Complete BS. You know the boys chased her out.
She is the one IT leader I wanted to work for someday.

When the purge begins.... It needs to be not just Karen... it needs to be most of the top 3 management layers.

This place is doomed.... please give me a severance!!!!

I'm convinced DDAT stands for: Destroy Departments and Terminations

I left CVS over 5 years ago. I had been a CVS employee for a very long time, but enough was enough. I have NEVER looked back. If you can’t be the change, make a change. There is life after CVS. Posting on this site will not get anyone anywhere. Alternatively, if you hate it now, wait a month or so and the leadership will change yet again.

No one mentioned all of the political bullsh-t involved. You can’t talk to this person without cc’ing this other person or you might be stepping on someone’s toes. I don’t have time to step on toes, I am just trying to get my job done. Morale is not in a good place.

CBS skews their HEDIS results. When you raise your concerns to Sr.Leadership, you are targeted. Retaliation is real! #justdoingmyjob

Inevitably, it is purge after purge after purge at CVS.

When Tilak first came to CVS, everyone treated him like a God. His speeches are akin to Joe Biden’s. Now our CISO is being forced out. The more things change the more they stay the same.

It is so bad, worse than anyone knows. People are being put on PIPS (performance improvement plans) when they raise compliance concerns. CVS is using wrong TIN/PIN’s and are getting paid out on claims. Wrong reimbursements. The person who tried to raise the issue was placed on leave.

We are told not to put compliance concerns in emails. Hey… how about service accounts…do we have an inventory for those?

We are being told to keep your heads down and your mouths shut.

I hope he's leaving and takes Karen with him. We need leaders not followers. Management that STOPS buying out other companies and focuses on Aetna and CVS. Enough is enough.

Have not heard he is leaving. If true, hopefully he has a bus he can pile his cronies, drinking buddies and circlej--kmembers that he hired to run DDAT in and they all leave together. But the reality is... which one will he pick to be his successor... ugh.
Likely the worst one.

Tilak and his good ole boys are toxic. You can't possibly work for this leadership team when the chain of command are basically drinking buddies.

Responding to this:

Bunch of CVS cry babies. From what I hear most of the people who work there stay because they can’t get another job. Whoever this Tilak guy is should just fire all you complaining as--s.

At CVS pretty sure that's the point.. he will fire them all and your leader will fire you...

This site is toxic just like the toxic trolls who post nonsense like this:
"Toxic, like narcissist, is one of the most over used words that explain nothing. It’s like saying it’s bad. Use your own words to explain a situation instead of following the lingo cult."

I thought the original poster was pretty much spot on.

True it has always been bad.. it's just 100x worse now.

Quality leaders are always chased out leaving the bad in place.

OMG, all these quality leaders that left we are romanticizing about, what did they do? This place has been a train wreck for 10 years I have been here and they helped put us here but now they are so amazing. We have short memories, can’t name one manager or executive that has been fired that we miss. Not saying today is better but give me a break about many good leaders we have lost.

To the person who said this is a stupid thread....
The OP is spot-on and it covers what is going on in DDAT.

Nothing to do with what the CISO was making... it's about quality leaders leaving cr-p ones staying and getting more "power". And likely she was paid with stock options which are -40 since she started. (zero value)

Wait... person that said stupid is probably our infamous Engineer...

Agree Tilak getting all his boys from India. Outsourcing was supposed be turned down a bunch of notches and instead we outsource more and more. They hate women. But they want to shove it down our throats to be ethical and treat people equally. Nothing will change until there's a class action lawsuit.

It is safe to assume that she didn’t retire. I’ve tracked at least 10 people who retired at CVS just to land a job somewhere once their cool off period was done, including last president of Aetna. Retirement is just corporate speak for soft firing these days. Once T decided to make security a counsel of Tony, Alan, and CISO instead of single CISO ownership, the day wasn’t far.

This thread is stupid because she probably got paid a ton of money to leave like most of these executives. Wanna force me out by paying a ton of money go ahead. Besides how do we know what she didn’t really just retire.

The comment about the legacy systems was spot on. I've seen several instances where new initiatives are forced to use existing solutions as part of a design because the time to implement an architectural feature correctly is much greater than the initiative's go live date. In many cases that component represents a single point of failure that can't easily/quickly be replaced due to it having been EOLd by the vendor. Now the SMEs for those systems will be going away.

The long history of unwillingness to invest in modern technology and systems means so much critical infrastructure to our business is still in legacy systems… this worries me if all the legacy employees with the understanding of the legacy systems are getting pushed out…

strangely IT is not respected but Engineering and testing is given special importance, may be because of the revenue generation vs being an overhead. I know they never dared to touch principal and senior engineers.

They really did get rid of all the decent managers who may of not been perfect but believed in pushing against deadlines to an extent. All these guys do is smile and do nada to stop the death marches. It cannot be stated enough that since teams are being failed by management there is no need for them. Dissolve the whole thing, the time it takes to hire new managers wont impede teams. I do also believe they are very buddy buddy, misogynistic and you cant trust the entire chain period.
