Why is the company still hiring when a lay-off is expected later this year.

Full-time wfh positions found at other places and compensation does not increase enough compared to the always increasing workload and responsibilities.

Interesting about the retention rate. Why do you think it's so low?

Retention rates are one year. Many openings need to be filled.

@acid+1m4wvafr coming into an office three days a week will not save your or anyone elses job from being offshored. It will be done as soon as it can be done if it can be done. No amount of in office attendance to manipulate the possible senerio of offshored jobs will stop or slow it down. I'm sure there are other reasons preventing that from happening that we all do not know about that are preventing many jobs from being offshored today and in office attendance is not even on the list.

So how bad is the actual turnover at OXY? Is it only due to the WFH policy or are there other reasons for the turnover?

@augc+1m4wvafr - There is nothing wrong with WFH full-time and you just need to find the right business that allows it. Most oil companies are either back in the office full-time or on a hybrid schedule. There are also tech companies that are wanting their people back in the office. Keep in mind there are also a lot of companies sending work outside the USA to save money. Go read the Exxon site and you will see what I mean. As far as accounting goes a lot of those jobs can be sent overseas, so there is not much difference who is doing the work as long as it is getting done. A 100K a year accountant with benefits can be offshored for a lot less, so maybe accounting is the example of WFH, but will also be the example of jobs being offshored by Oxy. To avoid that happening to my job I have no problem coming in 3 days a week.

@8kob+1m4wvafr you are very wrong full time wfh is available at many companies. This as it is hybrid is very annoying and d-mb for most positions since we're all using Microsoft Teams to remote with each other because it's faster and smarter to accomplish the work and communicate especially for group meetings because you can conduct the meeting and via automation simultaneously save notes. You can also have smaller break out meetings within the larger meeting to facilitate even larger amounts of people to work on more than one topic and save notes within each of the break out meetings. Those making bad in office work guidelines need to listen to those who know how to work remotely very well and stop falling back on old ways just because its what everyone else is lazily okay with and for many other opposit of productive work environment reasons. If there are other reasons why commercial buildings must be filled then tell us the truth and not that it's a more productive work environment because for most positions it absolutly is not the case and it is instead a major hinderance.

Its because of the high turnover once people realize how bad the company is. Oxy has always been like this, we lost entire RMTs to other companies when times were good.

Full-time WFH is not available at many companies these days. WFH Monday and Friday plus every other Friday off is pretty nice to many of us. If three days in the office is too much you just need to find that full-time WFH job. Plus, add in vacation and holidays with the 3 days in the office and I and many are happy as it is.

Because people are leaving since full time wfh is not available to anyone outside of accounting even though it is fully possible for most positions.

Because its a great opportunity at add to the existing bench strength. If there is a need to right size , they can let go the unproductive and not lose momentum. Exxon is constantly hiring and at the same time getting rid of the bottom 10%.
