Another suggestion; fire everyone in HR and start from scratch. People off the street would be better then what we currently have.

Any productive suggestions for the new HR Chief.

I have one, disregard any advice from E.R.

To @8hkz:
you've said "the timing of ER's departure is a bit suspicious...". Check out this link - Globalfoundries 401K Retirement Plan (Prudential) Investigation for Current & Former Employees:

Heard from someone in the know in Malta.

@7wny

It is a little suspicious. The timing of her “retiring,” and his abrupt departure is a little too coincidental. The rumors are over the top in my opinion but was she involved with a cover up and payoffs - maybe?? His whole mgt team should be looked into. Especially the US based teams under his regime. The mgrs on those chains under him all have suspicious actions and things/history to occur. All of them have shady actions and should be investigated thoroughly for improper behavior.

Interestingly though, they disassembled and scattered that mgt chain to varying parts of GF in the reorg a month before his departure…. Like randomly and completely disassembled that mgt chain out of the blue and scattered each piece respectively to very different spots-Part of cover up? Disperse to hide more evidence/crimes? Either way each of those mgrs should still get a really deep hard thorough look for anything remotely questionable ( like questionable promotions etc.)

Not here to defend her at all. But the problem is the SLT, all the way up to the very top guy. I have been in semiconductor industry for nearly 20 years now and GF is the worst company I ever worked for. I recently left GF after just one year. The reason for my departure was my horrendous management chain. Incompetent technically and lacking leadership skills to run a kindergarten classroom let alone a large number of highly qualified engineers. Shamelessly promoting cronies. In my experience GF is run by a bunch of mafia like incompetents who are at GF simply because no one else would hire them. I am extremely happy with my new job and the peace of mind coming with it. But feeling sad for all the good folks left behind in this toxic company called GF.

Maybe more to the story as there was another notable and odd departure??? Semiconductor press if you see this maybe look into it, do some digging and investigate!

She needs to clean house across board. Get rid of engineering mgrs who actively participated in that old bullsh-t system. Any mgr who has any questionable promotions or promoted their friends over better qualified personal need to go. Now is time to write in and voice concerns over mgrs past actions - call it out - even anonymously- now is time to clean house

The next big attrition is coming when TSMC comes on line in Arizona. Cost of living is less and a nice area ready to be developed, new homes etc.
The new HR chief has limited time, when these people leave on her watch, she will be blamed for those attrition numbers.

Cannot wait for the new HR chief to dismantle the GF version of the KGB, HRBP nonsense.
Get rid of any person in HR who has no certification the field and make all current HR employee re-interview for their jobs.

She has not started and already creating silos "engineers, technicians, and business leaders", How about "talented GF employees"

Exactly, anyone who says GFs attrition was in sync with the great resignation is either part of the problem or HR or both. GF has been hemeraging talent since day 1 (ER was hired in 2009). Look at a new hire's badge ID# and you will get an idea how many people passed through this place on their way to bigger and better things.

Yes but Globalfoundries self inflicted wounds caused more then others for example Intel attrition was like 5% - Globalfoundries almost 30% - it’s not the same

those are the marching orders for any HR department... I don't get why some posters here think GF suffered more than any other corporation. The "great resignation" was real and GF wasn't immune to it

I was a little discouraged with the diversity portion of comment. Yes diversity is important - very important. But not most important. If they put diversity as the most important thing which ER and her crew did - product suffers. It’s why everyone is leaving. It should be fair and just system - best person for the job. But GF leadership and hr lost sight of this and people are fed up.

“Engage, develop, and empower talent.”

In other words, Retention, Retention, Retention. Pretty clear why ER was shown the door.

Quote from new HR boss

"I am incredibly excited to begin my journey at GF at a time when the semiconductor industry is so vital to the global economy," said Raman. "I am really looking forward to working with GF's global team of talented engineers, technicians, and business leaders. GF's diverse talent pool is a real strength and their relentless commitment to developing their employees was critical in my decision to join the leadership team. Employees are a company's most important resource, and I have spent my career creating HR systems to engage, develop, and empower talent. I can't wait to get started at GF."

Don’t you think most companies would ask during interview or vetting process - ‘ what was attrition rate under your watch?”

The answer would be almost 30ish % - wouldn’t that be a giant red flag to no her out of building?!

What if ER really decided to retire after pocketing tens of millions worth of stocks with her horrendous quality of work? It would be naive to think that this new CPO will bring changes to GF, either she is the same as TC or she would depart within 1-2 years.

GF 1.0 will stay the original GF until most of the upper and middle management got purged.

Retirement @ 57?!? Her age is public knowledge, it’s in the SEC report. Missed the mark there GF.

No internal talent pool to promote from, normal for GF and a bad sign. Could have done better.

+1M in stock, definitely true, but that’s not enough to close a 5-8 year gap to retirement.

The toxic nature is rooted in the SLT, KC will bust on PB hard to improve the numbers and provide 0 help. Some of the busting is lack of knowledge and yields nothing for the company’s bottom line. This happens at all companies, but at GF, the leaders like PB, will turn around and apply the same approach to a band 6/7 in a large forum mtg. Congrats PB, you know how to make people feel like a pile of cr-p. Passing on toxicity is a personal choice, and you can see what it does.

ER should have put her job on the line to fire some of the SLT, she missed that opportunity, and therefore was asked to ‘retire’ and take the hit for the SLT for their impact on attrition.

ER was not ready for that job.

You nailed it. And that’s the huge toxic problem at Globalfoundries- people fu-k up and move up. Certain favorites do a terrible job but still manage to get promoted. Based off this board it is rampant at Globalfoundries. I have seen it a lot where more deserving people are passed over for someone who does a sh---y job but it’s a mgrs pet. She is a perfect example. As a previous post pointed out. She essentially created institutional biased system hidden behind some buzz words and gimmicks as it relates to promotions and career advancement at Globalfoundries. I think Harvard business review or their HR equivalent should write up a case study on it to be studied in business and hr curriculums. It could be potentially very valuable education case study.

For those thinking better things will come with the new CPO, keep dreaming. GF is rotten to the core, nothing will change it. We have had so many CFO, CIO and CEO, but nothing has improved. Maybe CPO is Tom's good friend like the CFO and CDO.

Finally they fired her, only took a few thousand good people leaving and a few hundred lives destroyed due to inept visa support.

Hiring her as employee #1 is the worst decision GF ever made.

She is/was a fraud. One who fu---d up and still got promoted and moved up. Which is so common at GLOBALFOUNDRIES. It was embarrassing all the fake awards she and hr team were receiving in the last year while attrition was at record level highs. I mean do these organizations even ask - what’s your attrition rate? Seems like extremely fair question to ask before handing out the awards. By giving said awards to her and GLOBALFOUNDRIES hr they have discredited themselves and tarnished their own reputations. And we shouldn’t let them forget this. Any chance we get remind them they awarded and applauded one of the worst if not the worse HR team and leadership in the semiconductor industry. People must be held accountable. The days of patting on back and forgetting are over.

Does this mean to the end to opaque and fake grading and promotions systems?? An end to the unjust promotion of certain groups? Basically end systematic institutional racist procedures she had in place that weren’t so well hidden?
