Calm before the storm? Especially given that there is a lot going in other companies?

I would say mostly likeability. Not even gender or diversity count so much.
mgrs say “random cuts” to avoid confrontation and even legal headaches ; the fact is that somebody has to choose whom to layofff, based on perf, cost, likability , high/low maintenance and yes even age and gender.. but ofc they can’t disclose any of that without risk.. “without reason or cause” is the tagline .btw, tech ic of 10+ years, keeping my head down and adding value where I can …
The package scale is based on years and level. They cap at 9 years, so my colleague with 9 years got the same amount of severance weeks as I did with 10+ years. I think the level benefits are VP and above. They paid COBRA for the full severance term, but screwed me on FSA funds.
@7ful+1gVQfW8W what kinda severance one can expect with that kinda mileage at this company?
I am so glad I got RIF'd during COVID. I got a halfway decent package for over 10 years of service. The last few years were a dumpster fire.
Now I work for a company that actually cares about their employees, rather than lying to them.
NetApp is a sespool of toxic waste.
Haven’t heard if engineers were effected yet ; I’m an 10+ Year engineer IC, Starting to wonder really.. I do know some groups have many open reqs; like 15+ On 2 teams I know of.. not sure if that matters when the ax swings..
Maybe ax some of the foul mouthed leaders that bully their way around, producing very little .. that may help
@21h, @21d Thx for posting; sorry to hear…, but on to better things; still wish ppl can volunteer;

Engineering groups too were affected?
I got cut this week. IC for just over 3 years. 120-150% of goal every year or half with, from what I can tell, was an above average quota. Was shocked when my manager called. He was only made aware the night before. No planning just random cuts. I am kind of glad it was sooner then later, jobs are drying up quick.
Yes, I was in the first group on May 3 and sales was notified on May 9 - so this is really happening...
Anybody on here get a ‘redundancy notice’ ?
There is unlikely to be a storm coming but the rain showers have been falling for the past few weeks.
More individuals shared they received redundancy notices on Tuesday of this week. This follows others the week before and several Director level and above departures due to new org structures that were announced at the start of the new year.
As is usual with NetApp the changes to structure are most likely needed to deliver on their strategy but it is how they go about it that has the biggest negative impact to all.
