Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Canopy and other Ford Next wastes of cash

Do we need sound engineering to fix our quality and warranty cost issues, or do we need fake businesses spun up (at great expense) to put out press releases to pump the stock price? Canopy was announced with great fanfare over a year ago, with nothing to show for it to date.

Ford is in dire straits, with enormous debt and a junk credit rating when banks are failing. With loan defaults and falling used vehicle values, there will be nowhere to hide the five week shutdown, other than we lose money on every EV we sell.

When will the money losers at Ford Next be held responsible for their many failures and lack of wins? Are FLV, CM and RM on PEPs yet? Spending cash like Ford Next does is not helping our solvency.

I don't believe the technological barriers for entry into many of these so called "subscription" services are high enough to prevent competitions from entering and eating away at the pie. In-vehicle NAV systems were pretty much useless as soon as everyone figured out their cell phones had a much better NAV system their car. These companies need to stop force feeding the public with their ideas in the name of revenue generation, and actually have the patience to understand what customers need and want.

@7eqp the subscription sales team needs to sell over TEN MILLION $6/month subscriptions to get to a billion in revenue. They better get busy.

@7ldb+1lFRpUr5 - NEXT lost a bit, but not as much as warranty cost. Only $1B in 2021, and $0.9B in 2022. I hope they can make it up in 2023. We can’t be burning this much cash with nothing to show for. Wondering in BOD is paying attention.

We will be lucky if Ring doorbell doesn’t put ADT out of business before Canopy is actually a real product.

Today’s financial breakout confirms that Next has been losing a $ BILLION every year. Why? None of them has education or experienc3 that qualifies them with the jobs they are supposedly doing.

Victor did nothing of consequence at Renault, and has done even less at Ford. His Master’s in physics and BA is auto design apparently don’t translate to developing new businesses. His hiring was announced two years ago, since then crickets on his achievements.

Moran has been at Ford 20 years, and his only achievement is announcing a security partnership that is two years late, a billion dollars short, and doesn’t actually exist . His education history is uninspiring.

Moser did nothing of importance at HP, and continues that level of effort at Ford. An MBA and degree in design aren’t delivering future products. His LinkedIn profile does say that if you were laid off from Ford, his large network might help you find a new job 🤣

TERMINATE FRANCK LOUIS VICTOR.
TERMINATE CHRISTIAN MORAN.
TERMINATE ROBERT MOSER.
TERMINATE.

The fact that Canopy and it’s cousins are losing BILLIONS every year, sadly, is not the worst of Ford’s problems. What does it take for the Ford family to fire Bill again?
Declining stock price?
Declining profit?
Declining market share?
All of the above?

What is wrong with this family and their business decisions?

For decades, we had a great security system in every vehicle, it was called “door locks that work.”

@3yjk its because they are playing by Ford rules not real world rules.

Real-world rules

  • create a useful product
  • beta test the product
  • refine and launch the product
  • announce the product

Ford rules

  • announce the product
  • set up committees to discuss building Ford teams and support teams
  • promote people to lead new leads
  • hire tons of people to fill the teams
  • set up committees to rigidly define roles and responsibilities and hierarchies ( all done by people with zero understanding of what needs to be done)
  • assign PMs to come up with project plans, input provided by people with zero understanding of what needs to be done
  • routine false reporting on project accomplishments begins in earnest
  • promotions are passed out based upon false accomplishments
  • scapegoats are targeted for the inevitable project failure, people in the know begin leaving the project teams as well the party is winding down
  • scapegoats are canned
  • promotions given to the newly anointed project saviors, and the Ford circle jerk starts again

@3yjk
The two year timing of the announcement was so all potential competitors had the chance to get to market faster, better and cheaper. Timing is everything.

Why was Canopy announced TWO YEARS before it will be available? Compare that to the GM Brightdrop announcement jus5 one year earlier in January 2021:

“BrightDrop Announces Walmart as New EV Customer and Expands Collaboration with FedEx at CES
In just one year since the company’s launch, BrightDrop starts 2022 with strong momentum from substantial EV reservations”

Brightdrop is already available, generating revenue, and was seen as a big hit at 2022 CES. Canopy is still a wet dream and was seen as a failure at 2023 CES.

Mary Barra is WINNING.

LOL Rob Moser. More concerned about his chik-fil-a delivery than getting anywork done. Id--t attempted to build an empire, brought in losers from FCA, HP, GM to build an empire and now it's crumbled. Good riddance.

" .... organically launch ....' wtf! that sounds like the id--t speak of the design thinkers that have destroyed the company. Launches are well planned and flawlessly executed programs that adhere to timing, cost and quality NOT the garbage of Canopy, the fail of the San Diego Mach E ridehail leases, the Miami AV pilots, ..... the list goes on and on.
All the money wasted on ' research ' and nothing to show. Louis Victor is a fraud, just like Farley, all talk, no accomplishments leading to profits. Moser, another fake, brought in by the ringleader of fakes, Musgraves. Shareholders are well aware of these clowns and as more are exposed, investors are demanding their termination. The stock continues to tumble, Doug can't dev an EV or any of the so-called digital products. Carly Price, another fake, was kicked out of Jae Park's team and given a BS exec director of advanced concepts title, she will be fired as well as her ' secret we-pon ' director. Yea, that you McManus, clown calls himself ' secret we-pon ' hasn't accomplished anything over 5 years of brown-nosing. PEP/ PIPs are here, and again its a popularity contest. More bs talk at the TH. Mr Bill Ford, please there are people that still care, do the right thing, terminate ineffective leadership. Please.

Is a Ford PR hack. Don't you have better things to do like saving Ford vs posting on message boards.

@1wsc perhaps you can explain why since canopy was announced, at least a dozen other companies have actually rolled out their in-vehicle camera systems?

All of the hating on Canopy in this forum is misplaced. Canopy hasn't even been fully rolled out. None of you are fortune tellers that can say it will fail to be profitable. Why can't you just be patient and let the service be organically launched?

When Canopy was prematurely announced in January 2022 our stock price was around $25, a 52 week high. today it’s with 50 cents of the 52 week low. So who takes credit for the 50% drop in market value? Farley, Victor, or Moran? IMHO, all three need to go.
