Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

EMIT Canada’s “Friendship Fridays”

Yeah, it’s sad and pathetic on every level. Let people quietly leave in peace instead of making a show that the survivors care. No one is falling for the show.

You think there will be closure? No, that will not happen. One can't help to be jealous of the survivors, getting to make that big fat XOM pension and salary - while the unlucky ones are out on the street looking for work.

Yeah, the package sounds good now, but the salaries on the market are just simply not the same. - one may never see that kind of coin again. And if you are one of those that worked at IOL/XOM since graduation, it will be a difficult adjustment at a different company.

How many people have been laid off btw in the last 1 year?
I don't think too many, perhaps specific departments?

Come on guys. This is pathetic. The friendship Friday’s is completely optional for both being recognized and for attending. I’m one of the ones leaving and I thought this was a wonderful tribute for those who wanted to participate. It gives us closure and a way for our contributions to be called out. I don’t know why you are using this forum to complain about it. If you don’t like it then Just don’t attend. Get over it.

The guys that fixes your computer are not EMIT employees, they are employees of a subcontractor.

Sorry to hear about the EMIT Layoffs. I worked with IOL for years. They offshored a bunch of EMIT work years ago and it was horrible. There service was terrible. Then they seemed to have brought it back and had an IT office at Quarry Park. BIG IMPROVEMENT. It was so good to just bring your computer down the hall, and get your problem solved right there on the spot.

Too bad they went backwards again. Somebody made a stupid decision.

Give it time. I expect EMIT to shrink by another 15%-25% within 2 years.

Seems like most of the EMIT layoffs are CL26 to 28, for people with 15 - 20 years of experience. The lower CLs seem to be saved, as those are worker bees, and are paid less so more competitive with the slaves at the 3rd world BSCs

EMIT Canada is like the Titanic, people bought tickets to ride on the greatest most advanced vessel in the world, but that was just marketing hype and now most have drowned, the survivors were randomly chosen by lady luck, the lifeboats are wet and cold and the band is playing marching tunes as the waves lap at their feet. Sadly, the passengers on the lower decks never had a chance.

With oil price on the up-tick, Imperial should be making some pennies. And, other Oil and gas companies should be doing well too, and making few dollars. Which might means hiring opening up again.

Imperial watch out, keep your employees happy; otherwise there might be few employees saying “bye bye”.

Real friends don’t need a nauseating Zoom call to fake caring and will still be your friends after the layoff.

It is probably an opportunity for the survivors to gloat.

They had the monthly townhalls when they exited Toronto. Yeah, the survivors don't care
