Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Who is getting hit?

Does anyone know which departments are facing the axe? Im in AR&I in the GTA and we’ve usually been rather immune to these workforce reductions. I’m hearing this time will be different.

Effect HR, LP, Accounting and Purchasing possibly,
So family member worked there long time ago, quit for luck of better opportunities, funny enough I am leaving after 6 years for the same reason, for higher up position I havent even got to apply for at Enbridge as they filled it up with non qualified employee who kissed a-s , Bravo Enbridge you keep rocking your own boat and loosing hard working honest employees. No wonder each month tons of people quit with no returns.

Does that 10-12% include vacancies?

I was let go 5 years ago after over 30+ years of service. It was the best thing that could have happened to me. Enbridge su-ks the life out of you. The company I work for now is great and values its employees. Trust in your abilities and move on.

It will be 12% of people or more, depending on your BU, across every level of the hierarchy

you forgot the lazy people who take advantage of being protected by the union, and make it tough for the rest of the good people in the union who work hard.

All Enbridge needs to do is get rid of the slew of middle management and advisors. Think about it, who does all the work? who carries these people day in and day out and makes them look good, who is the driving force that wins them their high STIP payouts. Anyone who busts their a-s by being stressed and working overtime, give your head a shake. You are only a number and Enbridge only cares that the work is being done, not 'who' does it or how its done. Enbridge is a corporation who only cares about the almighty dollar, and why wouldn't they. They boast about having to answer to their shareholders, well hello... 99% of their employees are shareholders but they don't answer to them.

Enbridge has always been more than fair when doing buyouts. It still makes it hard for those not wanting to gowith a buyout but most other companies dont give as much as Enbridge does.

Correct, not good for those who are early or mid term employees.

Good for those within 2 years. But for those of us within 10-15 years of retirement, not so much. It’s difficult to restart a career at age 50.

Operations/AR+I are not immune to this one and will be impacted. It's all about the OEB decision and O+M budget reductions. A lot of long term, experienced, respected, knowledgeable and overall good employees will be shown the door. It's a good thing for those that can retire or are within 2 years of retiring.

Cuts will be across the enterprise. If there are any groups excluded they will be very few. This isn’t like prior ones.
