Best car ever, 1981 regal. Retrofitted with Kreiger classic tires and boy she was sweet + Robert Shaw thermostat for high performance.

Please stop making cars! Our planets is clogged up with too many already! I work for a company that makes parts for gm,the quota is too overwhelming,we never have enough parts! I do not have a car by choice,I loath the damn things! I feel sorry and sad for mother earth,we've ruined it! Overall I hope the entire car industry collapses and Jesus come save humanity from itself, amen

"I used up all my UE and no TRA cause I haven’t worked there long"

I feel like this is a union failure. I'm not against unions. I'm against situations like these.

Why does GM need to hire more employees if they can't build cars?

It's not about building cars. It's about changing their cr---y image by doing cr---y things.

I was laid off in 2019. I've had several people I used to worked with contact me about coming back. I've had even more recruiters contact me about how my background is a perfect fit for positions at General Motors.

Watts To Freedom is wrong with these people?

I wonder how long they can avoid it if they can't build cars due to the chip shortage.

If revenue is down, theyll have to do something.

Recent cuts have been temporary blue collar layoffs due to shortage of semiconductor chips. GM is not likely to have a massive white collar layoff as in 2019, at least for awhile as companies struggle to find employees. Hard to say what might happen in a few years, particularly as companies shift to more flexible work environments allowing employees to work from home all or part of the week. Eventually, this could affect peoples' buying patterns as a vehicle driven less will last longer.

General Motors is one of the largest employers in America. The enemies of America are targeting General Motors, this is a fact.

"It is mostly psychological warfare from competing countries"

Ah ha ha ha ha...

Now General Motors is competing against entire countries? How do they handle both that and single handedly building the EV industry from scratch? Maybe we can save money on the US defense budget since their superiority at everything means they've got it handled.

There are many individuals at every company who get in the door and stagnate, failing to develop themselves and just want to ride things out performing to a lackluster extent as long as possible. Those people won't go elsewhere. GM is the same as every other company on earth in this regard.

Ha ha...so if you don't have valuable skills, you're stuck at GM? That sounds about right.

If you have valuable skills there is no reason to stay somewhere you hate.

"What is stopping you from finding a different job? "
Typical GM trope "if you don't like it, go work somewhere else". Like saying "if you don't like riding in the back of the bus, walk," which is what they wanted in the first place.

"Stop being lazy and complaining and do something with your life."
Arbitrarily labeling someone who brings attention to bad behavior as lazy complainers. Now this person is starting to trigger my GM PTSD.

"90% of the people posting here don't even work for GM"
Doesn't matter, the point is that this is acceptable behavior at General Motors. Even if it is coming from internet trolls.

What's funny is people making character attacks on an anonymous message board. Sounds like GM to me.

RE: "I've seen young people bullied relentlessly for leap-frogging the experienced people by actually working hard. If I knew what I know now about General Motors, I would NEVER have taken a job there."

I just laughed OUT LOUD!!! Young people working hard?? Where?? They meander in at 9:30 to 10 and are gone by 3 to 3:30. They might work hard for half the day.

At least it’s not like the dumpster fire in Auburn Hills where these Euros that took over FCA are slashing, cutting, outsourcing and not replacing the previously lean teams here in North America. Can’t get rid of french workers easily so American workers are toast or eventually quit with the stress. Mass exodus of those remaining quiting and retiring with the nonsense the merger (takeover) brought.

Get those resumes ready.

We just hired two "green" individuals, that will be working on a billion dollar program. I'm not happy about it, but its leftover talent in the field. People are retiring, opting out, or getting injured, maimed, or worse from these shots. Regardless, we can't find the people.

Working for us is like hitting the lottery.

Before the last big layoff (was it 2019?), they spent the whole previous year silently laying off 10% of most departments.

Nothing was announced, you just noticed that people disappeared.

It was spread over the whole year.

Probably not an official layoff, but if they follow along with Ford, there will be a natural reduction in headcount on it's own.
