Thread regarding Mondelez International Inc. layoffs

The DM’s know what’s going on?

Just got word that my DM knows what’s going on. Our team has a conference call in a few weeks. Anyone else hear anything?

I haven't heard any talk from anyone
Of this third party.....
But no straight answers either. The next team over knows what's going on......I'm still guessing. Being a team player is only good for the rest of the team

So what if your DM knows what's going on!
DSD is eventually ending soon!
Quit hiding from it and face it!
Time to move on!
The red flags have been there since we closed branches in 2013.
Retailers want control!
Mondelez is greedy and is dragging us all along until the transition is completed

That is how this company rolls.

There's never any notice to massive changes. They send you an email or a text that there's a region call, usually day of, that's your notice.

I remember when we bought Cadbury. The Cadbury rep sent me a text telling me they had a conference call at noon. He said I think I'm losing my job. That's what happened. He got notified of a conference call at noon, and then he was notified he was terminated, after 30 years.

We had a conference call some years back , they took away a weeks vacation, 2 personal days, our yearly bonus, downgraded us from a Ford Fusion to a Focus, and deducted from the quarter bonus too I think. Then, in the same breath told us all they'd posted the biggest profits in the history of the company.

They do not care about us.

You might think you're in good with them now, and you might be, until one day you aren't.

You'll get older, you'll fall from their graces, and they'll discard you, just like the rest.

Good luck everyone

We had a weekly conference call that was...eerie to say the least. Everyone was quite and our DM wasn't acting like his normal self. It just felt weird because last week he had said both him and our RMS were staying (no suprise considering they're so new) and that he had gotten to look at the new team area.

The biggest red light to me was when he said he had no new information that he could share. He carefully worded it that way, making me feel like he knew something more.

Nobody knows anything yet! If your DM told you, you are being shifted to a new team or territory they are lying. They will release all info at the same time to all. When push comes to shove, they can simply say..."things have changed".
It will be sometime before info is released, they don't want to jeopardize both hitting numbers, and also reps "loading or leaving a mess"! This common but barbaric practice, for which management was well aware of and even promoted, is now a violation of company policy.
If you were told tomorrow your job was eliminated, how hard would you work?
Mondelez management could care a less about their field sales people. Most underappreciated people in the business, PT folks are treated worse than dirt, yet they can't operate without them.

To the person that's getting laid off, are you the low person on the totem pole? Curious to see why the chosen you to be let go?
My territory is being eliminated but I'm getting shifted to another team

To the DM if we signed the EOI would HR have already reached out to the ones that would be let go? Do you see the changes as a positive for sales reps that will still be here when the changes go into effect? My DSM said we would be told of new territories on the 26th. But it seems to me they already know the new territories so I don’t understand why they can’t say anything now to us.

In a way, ALL routes are being terminated...as they are today. Reality means, you are no longer wanted to run a new route. I hope you asked questions, like the metrics used to determine who was being let go vs. those staying. Tenure, geography, and performance.
Don't let this be an opportunity for them to rid themselves of all the "older" reps, or reps that are not on "GS" fast track. They are not exempt from following EEOC guidelines, much to their chagrin.
Mondelez management won't give up a thing voluntarily....you gotta push for whats right! Their methods of doing things without regards to rules or regulations are as blatant as it could be.
I'm gonna cover myself...hope everyone else does too!

Our DM received the new routes this week. I’m a SR and my route is being eliminated. I had a severance call with a HR rep and was told my last day will be 4/2

March 3rd is the day that you'll know.
Conference call will be happening then.
Only employees that signed the EOI will be terminated.
Most likely you'll keep your current territory minus a few D stores
Some may be shifted to other teams depending on geographic factors

That sounds about right.

Optimization means we're getting rid of people because we think we've found a way to do MORE with LESS.

Optimization is a gross, sugar coated way of saying we are disposing of people because we're greedy, and we think we've found a sick, shady way to get what we want, while paying as little as possible to get it, and we don't care who it hurts or effects in the process, as long as we get what we want.

Narcissism at it's finest. We are all the pawns.

simplify your statements for the benefit of folks like me that dont speak corperate.what does optimization change really mean? I assume a full third of reps minimally to be not necessary soon

If this first round of changes is happening April 4th, then we'll know before April 4th. Okay, so 4-5 weeks out, not a few weeks? Same difference. It can't be kept a secret and roll out the new system all at the same time, so we'll all know very soon. It's just annoying to wait, and be unable to use this time to make plans for ourselves, with no knowledge of what's happening, until it happens.

Don't count on it. In the past they call those that are being terminated the week before the changes take effect. DM's are being eliminated as well...less reps equals less bosses. Lots of lazy, worthless, drunk DM's in this company...bet they all keep their jobs.

In a few weeks? I think we'll all know what's happening in a few weeks.

DM here. We had a call on Wednesday and all I can say is that there are going to be some dramatic optimization changes in the organization. The call was pretty emotional when it was announced that they were bringing in a third party to facilitate the reorganization of sales.

The company is providing third party outsourcing support for some to find new jobs, but that doesn't really apply to anyone below rms.
