US IT staff was just told their last day is July 23. Not sure of the numbers.

IT/IS world wide is going. Engineering, Operations and all supporting roles. In my old group there were 7 that was not affected. Several have left. I expect the rest to go on their own as well.
Operations in KL was moved to ACC.
Eliminated or transferred its all semantics...we are toast either way.
AIG: We are eliminating your position
Employee: You are lying!
AIG: Yaaaa....ya caught me...sending your job to ASIA.
Employee: Well, that's better!
AIG: snicker $$$$$$$
I don't like being lied to. During the "town hall" they told us our jobs are being "eliminated". Now I just found out that I will need to attend some "knowledge transfer" sessions to train my replacements. Sounds like my job is being "offshored" instead of being "eliminated". BIG difference in my book. I wish there was some legal recourse here... >:(
@jozi+19UmfRl6 they don't offer that because:
1) some people are leaving anyways. now AIG will have to give them $X instead of $0.
2) your better talent tends to leave due to availability of jobs
Why doesn't AIG just send out a note to all employees and say "look, if you want to leave we'll package you out". Other companies have done this to reduce headcount and it's better for morale, knowledge transfer, etc.
Since it makes sense I guess it's ludicrous to expect leadership to even consider it.if I'm guaranteed a package I will leave and they can do what they want after that.
Job market is improving. They could go ahead and finish the layoffs and those who leave get out of here, while the remainder can stop worrying about losing their jobs.
Do nothing to make it easy on the Accenture drones. Talk about diversity - laying off a lot of different types of people while moving to offshore where it is 99% Indian males.
Take your diversity platitudes and shove them.
@7ovd+19UmfRl6 I am not bitter at all. I feel sorry for these people and agree with your points but, it would appear you are making my point as to the reason they are bitter and short tempered. This is why 4 months is way too long.
@5gfa+19UmfRl6 The only one who sounds bitter here is you. Call the help desk if you have a problem and stop trashing hard working people who were given pink slips after doing the lion's share of BCP work during COVID. These people went into the office, risked their/their family's lives and worked around the clock to help users get up and running at home and this is the thanks they get? They have the right to be disappointed.
@5ttd+19UmfRl6 - why did leadership give them 4 months to stew? Jobs are out there now, so if you want a job, you leave now and AIG doesn’t pay severance. PZ gets extra stock for each packs ot paid out. Then if you stay till July, you get severance, but hiring usually dries up and you are stuck stressing out about getting a job.
@5ttd+19UmfRl6 Indeed not sure how JR rose through the ranks but it for sure was not due to his public speaking or charisma. Let's be honest though, all town halls are a massive waste of time. Just PZ's Italian opera...was a good show. Got a good laugh or two, real questions will never be answered in those public settings.
@5ttd+19UmfRl6 Have you ever sat through a JR town hall? One of the most painful experiences you will ever endure. The man is definitely way over his head...
@5gfa+19UmfRl6 Just shows you how incompetent upper management is, having JR as the head of IT as the CIO was a terrible decision. That man is an accountant through and through, and as such his only objective is to cut costs (well not his own stock options, god forbid someone touches that) and....leave before the actual blowback of his decision is felt. Not sure why c-appy accountants are hired in executive positions, all they do is destroy companies (just look at AT&T and IBM).
Giving the IT staff 4 months to stew about being laid off is a massive mistake. I am now dealing with bitter and short tempered techs. Well done AIG management that thought this was a good idea.
You better get control of this before it escalates to something real ugly. I really hope AIG management\HR\etc reads these comments.
I would knowledge transfer just enough info to these pods to confuse them, then go silent. Take your PTO. Job search during work. Do nothing to really help them.
Hope someone asks why we don't outsource our management too. When I leave I plan on taking as many good people as I can. Non compete doesn't apply if I haven't signed anything. I've enough $$ I dont.want their blood money.
They hired in a bunch of Accenture execs to run IT. Now Accenture gets payoff for then moving. Was there an announcement on this? I didn't see one. Think they're getting compensated for sending so much business to them?
Hence why if you're a newbie or TAP with AIG, be certain there is no future here. Good news is economy is coming back so get.resume ready, expand and reinforce Contacts, do some work for yourself to further your future.
I read link by Dont sugarcoat it
The person is right, and it will/is happening right now, except AIG leadership and the Board chose a pricey route by first selecting McKinsey, then Accenture. Terrible decisions, they could have raised the dividend, saved jobs, improve financials and the stock price. Also in the post, they said the consultants were masters at deflection, true at AIG and make fences decks full of fake info that wows leadership to keep paying them a lot of money
They chose to be lazy and loot the company.
If you leave before July 23 then no severance
Anyone know what IT roles?
There are a lot of different groups in all of the locations mentioned.
They are getting rid of IT because there will not be any other employees left needing their support.
Learn from the past. Here is what happened at one of AIGs competitors

NY IT staff is also getting cut - they have until July as well....
The one poster is right, if you move to ACC, they will just use it for any knowledge transfer they may have missed, they get rid of you with no severance package after 6 months or less. So you need to weigh that in on whether to take AIG severance or go to ACC....
At a place like ACC, they either don’t pay good or they pay OK and work you to death, and the chosen few rise to partner where they reap the benefits/spoils. Terrible culture
AIG or NTT IT?
My previous employer tried to put a positive spin on our jobs being outsourced. You can be rebadged and continue to work here. Nothing will really change!
Haha NOPE.
It’s just an opportunity to finish any knowledge transfer they missed.
Everyone in IT is not straight up rif'd at this time. With any reorganization, groups are retained and groups are released. It's a tough day for all of AIG.
Its a blood bath. I found out that some are remaining with AIG IT...not many. Good luck.
@nhz+19UmfRl6 Everyone today is straight up getting RIFed. Jobs are being "eliminated".
Also if you go over to Accenture then prepare for a huge paycut (this is exactly what happened to the IT guys from Bulgaria and Philippines that were forced to go over there). Everyone in the US should just look for a new job right now.....the turnaround story is completer BS, the only thing that is turning around is BD Golden Parachute.
Careful if you go to Accenture if you have years or service at AIG....they will probably RIF you in 6 months, then no severance since new company
So is anyone affiliated with IT is either going over to Accenture or is straight up getting RIF'ed by July?
Sorry to hear this news...again...when does it ebd?
All areas in IS.
Livingston and Fort Worth too. Probably others.
General Insurance or L & R? Sorry to hear about person cut.
I was one of those cut, it's been real AIG peeps. Accenture is coming in to take over most everything.
Houston
Any specific areas??
