Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

No safety

If the past several rounds of layoffs taught me anything, it's that nobody is safe here. I've seen some of the best employees laid off without a second thought, I've seen people who've been here for decades and those who've been here for as little as a year shown the door. Even managers have been hit again and again. There is no rhyme and certainly no reason to it. So if there are people who consider themselves safe from layoffs, I'd really think about that a bit more and do some "just in case" preparations.

@5rji+18tnIgR3. Maybe these folks should sue AIG. The company has a duty to treat employees fairly. A class action would be the best way, and retain well known firms in this space.
I bet it would work.

No job security at all. Laid off with no notice after overperforming and handling the messes others left behind. Racism, ageism rampant and there are managers with titles who have no business being in any business.

Responding the post from person who works in Operations. They are right. Many managers do not know how to manage. Find employees to scapegoat. Racism is rampant. I've witnessed it. The company is trying to pass themselves off as embracing diversity. Biggest joke of the year.

Wow! I see nothing has changed with AIG. I was there for 20 years prior to being laided off in 2018. It was like playing Russian roulette, due to not knowing when it would be my turn. Once they let me go it was like a relief. Goodluck to those that are still there.

Why would you stay under such bad conditions? Sounds like you are looking for a lawsuit....just move on and enjoy your life at another company that will appreciate your talents...unless your talent is complaining....then I suspect you are where you belong.

Operations here. I've been berated for over performing, made to feel incompetent because I was trained in a process multiple different ways, I've been scolded, in front of other employees, for leaving the office to get important company hardware (despite not being given any tasks or assignments to even work on for hours at a time, I've been told it's "my job to sit at my desk" in response to me bringing up the lack of work I have. I've heard racial slurs coming from management, right in front of me, even during the interview process, I've been verbally categorized and stereotyped based on my race, I've been called into b.s. meetings with my former supervisor over mistakes which weren't even mine ( mistakes that I was able to get to the bottom of, in terms of who was committing those mistakes, within a matter of minutes, yet i'm somehow called in and asked to justify and defend myself that would have only took 2 minutes to get to the bottom of ), I've been told I can't receive better assignments because "people dont trust me enough"...trust me enough to get the job done efficiently and accurately or trust me enough to take the heat for other entitled managers' stupid mistakes? Hate to be "that" person, but I barely see any minorities in any meaningfully prominent position in my office, with the exception of one person. I've been spoken down to about my education and about my plans to further my education. I've been stonewalled from meetings and opportunities that certain types of individuals haven't had to work even half as hard for, I was lied to in the interview process about having 1 remote dat a week (aside from pandemic situational remote work). Just thought I'd spill the beans here..

I have only been with AIG for less than 3 years and I have never felt any job security with the constant RIFs and the way they have been executed - good performers caught in circumstances beyond their control let go, personal vendettas settled by RIF’ing someone versus a low performer but kiss up, etc. I have worked for other large companies that handled their RIFs much more professionally

This is true. I know a woman on the client service team who was the best. The others on her team were nothing compared to her. They laid her off recently. Nobody is safe
