There is no reason they shouldn't be able to make money in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. That is a thriving city with nothing else really around for miles and miles and their competition (Younkers) is gone. If they can't make money there, the problem is with Macy's.

The closure could also depend on leases (lease or own the building) then sales. Our understanding is 1-3 years depending on the company. Another way of saying it, 'if you work in any of these store's, you have a 3 years max before it's closed.'

I wonder why they dont maybe experiment with turning some of these into backstage stores. maybe the "off price" marketing might be more enticing .

Can we clarify this once for all–this list of stores are called "neighborhood stores" and they are scheduled to close in three years. Does this apply to all of them on the list? i.e. is "neighborhood store" synonymous with "closing store"?

@6kcm+13uNHKB9, it can be anytime in the next three years. The company will close these stores anytime and I’m betting there will be a list for this summer soon.
