Thread regarding CVS layoffs

October layoffs - Aetna

Our Director told us during our weekly meeting that more layoffs are coming in October but she stated that she doesn’t have any additional information. So this sounds to me that this will be a new wave of layoffs, and not the planned layoffs that were determined and announced in August.
Does anyone know how many more will be let you in October?

We need leaders who can do a better job at strategic thinking to prepare organizations for 3-5 years out. If there was better planning for the future, we would know what jobs and skills were needed so we could develop and train the workforce to up-skill and prepare. It is also important to monitor staffing needs and not over hire only to need to turnaround and quickly cut millions in costs and eliminate jobs. If leaders were better aligned strategically and actually cared for colleagues, they would do a better job to avoid layoffs in the first place. Layoffs are quick shortcuts to cover up poor leadership decisions and actions. The sad part is many lives are affected by layoffs but the leaders who make poor decisions have contracts that still pay them millions. How does that happen??!! The average colleague is expected to complete compliance modules to maintain their jobs but where is the leadership accountability and responsibility??!! I have experienced many who are not role models of the code of conduct or compliance.

"I mean, it's not like the job wouldn't get filled if she didn't take it."

Anyone who would take a job with the title "workforce reduction" in it must be a sociopath and fundamentally evil. It is an oxymoron to claim that it is possible to steal peoples' livelihoods "fairly and humanely."

Q: “Does anyone know how many more will be let go in October?”
A: If Aetna has the majority of contracts in January, it does the bulk of its sales and renewal work about 2-4 months out for most customers (the very largest need more time). Point being the prep for sale being all but over at that time, my hunch is on the company matching the August layoffs unless attrition takes care of the bottom line number they are hellbent on shell-gaming to produce.

I mean, it's not like the job wouldn't get filled if she didn't take it. The job cuts will happen one way or another and someone might see it as a point of pride to handle it as fairly and humanely as possible.

Jennifer Bailey, who signed the layoff letters, has a title of Executive Director HR Policy, Compliance, Workforce Reduction and Reasonable Accommodations at CVS Health. If someone's title includes the terminology, "workforce reduction," you can be sure there won't just be one set of layoffs. Layoffs will be a regular occurrence for quite some time.

Of course, what kind of sociopath would take a job that includes "workforce reduction" in the title? Is she so desperate to climb the corporate ladder that she takes pride in stealing peoples' livelihoods?

Just got a email saying there was a town hall meeting on the 19th. I am currently a remote employee.

I heard the same from a reliable source. There will be more changes in mid October. I don’t think anyone has an idea on how significant they are but my guess is that it won’t be as much as the august layoffs.

No. Notifications have already occurred October is a separation date for some depending on situation (even though most have stopped work).

You got it about right. Most of the work I was involved with was pushing members to lower cost options, or getting “second opinions” from our preferred providers to have more control over procedures and costs. Telling your own Dr. you worked for an insurance company was also fun

From what I gather from all the insurance company threads, is that they are horrible places to work. I guess some people have empathy and don't want to deny treatments sick patients need.
