Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Travel furlough

Just got an email from global travel telling me that my RTAs for June have been cancelled and that travel has been suspended. WTF am I supposed to tell my clients, setup a workshop a month ago and now can't go. How bad can the cash situation be or is this massaging the accounts to make thing look better for any buyer?

I work in sales ... and there is no better way to open, shape and close business than face to face. There is not viable alternative when selling at the Enterprise level. We don’t sell simple stuff ....

People already have been forced to work from home in some countries. Forced that is one of the BEST benefits DXC offers !

Our implementation of Skype for Business seems to be the worst I have ever seen, NOT REALLY if your not on a slow network or on some slow VPN it works great. I have a cable modem in the US download 186.90 Mbps Upload 16.01 Mbps for a low cost and don't have Skype issues.

Don't blame Skype blame your network or the VPN you use.

Were a Digital company, you don't need to travel. Use Webex, Skype or some other Video conferencing. My god man get with the digital age!

If they ( the clients) don’t see you .... you ( DXC) don’t exist .

I've just read through the posts to this thread, and is there any wonder both @ZrLj4iN-jrk and @ZrLj4iN-ahg have been voted down by so many people. Are they from DXC management or just lacking an understanding of how human relationships work?

I'm not in sales, but based on life experience I know you can't beat a face to face meeting with people, especially for that initial contact. Sure, you can work with them remotely thereafter, by phone or using Skype or the like, but for building a meaningful relationship, let alone with a potential customer, you need to meet!

No understanding or humanity - cold hearted bean counters - that sums up DXC to a tee.

This is happening to the people who are supporting large Cat A deals also. Several team members got the same emails with their RTAs all cancelled. Some of us are flying out Sunday for face to face client negotiations meetings. How do you close business when you can't travel to your client? And it seems somewhat random.

oooh drama! Travel for client-billable travel and sales travel is exempt from this. Lemme guess the age of these whiners. There seems to be a certain percentage of folks that can't get the hang of remote working.

DXC seems to be trying to cut their way to prosperity. This never works and it is destined not to end well...

Simple - tell your clients the truth. If DXC will not permit you to travel then so be it.

Sometimes you have to let bad things happen before organisations realise the consequences.

DO NOT be tempted to pay for travel out of your own pocket.

See whether DXC Skpe for business works efficiently for you and your clients including volume / stress testing and if it is organize meeting this way - other alternative is to go ahead with the travel and pay it for yourself + possibly get in trouble from the managers upstairs or option C) Pay with the DXC rules / restrictions explain this to your clients and then possibly over time the service that you deliver will go the pan and when service agreement comes up for renewal DXC is then cut out along with more WFR. However if you've got an excellent relationship with your clients you may likely be rehired either directly as a permanent position or as a preferred freelancer.

I have heard from a lot of colleagues working on some major client accounts, not sales deals, but actually involved in client facing delivery meetings that their travel approvals have been cancelled. Also exception requests are being rejected. Clients are getting p-ss-d of. Deliveries are failing. People already have been forced to work from home in some countries. At some point they need to talk face to face with the client. Remote doesn't work. Also, our implementation of Skype for Business seems to be the worst I have ever seen. Talking to a client on meetings in the past weeks have been consistently disconnected or quality of call rubbish. I am ex HPE. We solved all these problems and we had a stable skype. Seems the DXC team who have implemented our solution are useless. Absolute c-ap. So cant visit client. Remote doesn't work. May as well just do emails and mow the lawn.
