Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Upper management has their heads stuck up their behinds

When will CVX execs start caring about this company and the employees? Morale has gotten worse since the last round of layoffs and most of my coworkers are getting burned out from extra workloads resulting in costly mistakes. What is the plan here? What is the strategy besides sitting around twiddling their thumbs while people are getting tired of the entire BS? Something needs to be done before we start to lose even more talented people.

@5etd, That is all the same as most people got, except that you ended up with less, no doubt because you are young and had less time in, no worries. The most surprising thing in your post is that you indicated that someone actually hired you, lol!

Most of the stock options rely on the stock appreciating but it has not done that. It has been nearly flat for a decade. Price is same today as about 2011. Management is screwed be unless they can convince the market oil is a hot commodity that all investors should like.

Upper management , will all be retired with their massive stock options in 3-5 years and all the Pension payments. I wonder what it is like having millions of dollars to spend every year while retired? They really don't give a phuck, they will say all the right things of course and might even believe it themselves

I got laid off , was going to retire anyway , almost a years salary as severance, + CIP as well, +Lump sum and medical for a year I'm about 450K richer as a result of 2020, plus the lump some maxed out because interest rates were at a low, and now headed higher, FYI low interest rate max out the Pension lump Doethink I got very lucky, now am working from home at a new job with really professional people for a change - it's real delight. I have survival guilt. Expenses are really low I only fill up the tank once a month (at Arco it's the same gas you know, if you don't drink that CVX kool aid) ) now may even sell one of the cars, or both and get an EV. Oh and the house is up 20% as well. Does it get any better. Yes I don't have to work for Chevron any more - no more brown nosing to management and saying all thatschit in meetinsg that only a few boys scouts actually believe. Not surprised moral is low, what with that really stupid cloud/ Digital and even worse Agile trend that will s— up money and employees spirit like a vacuum before being sc-apped in 2-3 years and re-branded. Wow the remaining employees are taking up the slack of all the lucky ones that got let go were doing most of them SME's that are hard to replace.

Management needs to do something as in my area morale is very low and people are burning out due to the higher workloads after an already difficult layoff. If they don't start caring about employees they will lose most of their talent and have a hard time replacing them since many people do not want to work in the oil industry. I don't think they realize the damage they are doing to the company and need to fix it fast.

Just play the game, have some fun at work. Post some meaningless bs on workplace like 2022#why, brown nose a bit, throw agile quotes around, try and incorporate energy transition in your department even if your department has no relevance to the transition..

The Glory Days and abundant resources days are over, get used to hard work, no appreciation, getting bypassed for promotions by high pots and D&I types, and the outside world hating you. At least we still have good salaries!

It s—s - I love this company but really struggle to believe in it anymore. It's been 10 years since college and it has been a total downwards journey the last 5 years. In my BU, Mid Continent, they drove out all the technically talented and relationship based leaders and replaced them with fakes or people that have been promoted above their people interaction abilities. Want so badly to believe it will get better but have doubts this can happen with current leaders.

Makes me feel much better after being laid off in 2016, although I really never regretted retiring back then. My desire at the time was to put in only another 2 or 3 years, but given that I received a one year severance check and 6 months of unemployment benefits, reading how bad morale is right now makes me less hurt about the timing of my exit.

I am done... worst ever performance review and no way to grow.. four months trying to tap into new projects but seems I am only good for what I was chosen after the selections.

Oh that is terrible, the worst ever. Now, pull up your pants and get back to work. Resistance is futile.
