Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

stop pretending that your company is a family

Since the layoff, I had 2 groups reach out from the company: 1) a person that represents some job-placement group that continued to ask me the same questions despite emails that already answered the questions .. had to just block them, and 2) someone VERY interested that I keep all of my existing dollars at Schwab in my brokerage and 401k. This seems like the behavior of a greedy cousin or an ungrateful heir.. or someone that tries to pretend to be your "family" until it is inconvenient for them but still wants a little piece of you. this really su-ks

I am not the one downvoting your posts but LHH vandalized my resume to the point where some recruiters were looking at it and couldn't figure out what the heck I was doing at CS. I had to rewrite it using standard ATS compliant template as a dev.
I might watch some of the tutorials they have there, but my impression is that you'd be better off watching some videos on YouTube.
Another thing is their board doesn't have anything of interest for devs, in my opinion. What happened to all those super duper secret decoder ring handshaking underground elite recruiters and hidden illuminati networks? Where are all those jobs LHH was hyping so much? Maybe this dude here is not worthy or something.
Maybe I'm missing something, just my experience. YMMV.

I'm really confused as to why LHH is downvoted when mentioned on this forum. I used their services and they helped me 1) navigate LinkedIn 2) network with recruiters 3) update my LinkedIn profile with keywords 4) update me resume, both content and format.

I was laid off in October but didn't engaged LHH until late December. I just landed a job two weeks ago (and start next week!).

Conspiracy theory incoming... Could it be that LHH is costing Schwab too much money and they are trying to deter people from using them, via this site? /cue mystery tune "dun dun dun!"

When I was laid off after Goldman-Sachs acquired the best company I ever worked for, they engaged. LHH. I can't recommend them enough. They did not help me get my next but I'm confident they would have had been on the bench a bit longer. Plus they got me out of the basement, helped keep my spirits up, gave me some great networking opportunities, etc. Highly recommend.

TDA was a family. Schwab is more like an 18th century orphanage, with only slightly better tech.

Now now.

That’s really unfair.

It’s the same tech.

Sign up for LHH.. Schwab does not pay for the service unless you sign up. Not required to use them.

LHH is the outplacement services company that is annoying you OP. I recommend at least taking advantage of their resume review service (a human will look at your resume, edit it, and give you suggestions for additional improvements). That alone was worthwhile for me at least. Also, they will help you with your LinkdIn profile if you’d like.

not greedy, nervous. how many laid off employees pulling their retirement funds out of a schwab account do you think it takes to equate to a bank run?
