I feel like every year this board spreads a lot of rumors about layoffs and with the exception of 2020 they never happen. I have no inside knowledge, but I don't think they will happen this year

They were doing the same hiring in claims and other areas with weeks of the 2020 layoffs being announced. The fact that they are hiring means nothing. They have already canceled new hire classes and rescinded offers to new employees I'd different areas in the past few weeks.
@5dct+1hGoCx72 I was at Allstate and my first mistake was going to Allstate, mistake number two was leaving and going to Progressive, the best thing I did was leave insurance completely and make 50% more than I did at progressive, anyone with decent skills can get a job outside of insurance as insurance companies will hire anyone with a pulse. Get out while you can.
The concern I have with claims scrambling to hire and retain is that there’s no change in approach. Where’s the gain share program Progressive offers? Where the shift in paying more based on geography? Where’s the opportunity to get promoted within claims? Scrambling like a lunatic without a plan isn’t effective.

Just looking at claims, for example. The situation "on the ground" is not one in which mass layoffs are happening. Allstate is scrambling to hire adjusters/prevent adjusters from leaving. My department, for example, has been trying to hire people for well over a year.
Randomly call into claims yourself and try to reach an adjuster. It's nearly impossible. There isn't anyone to "mass layoff".

I don't know if I would call it mass layoffs, and how many from each department will depend on how many leave that helps get down to the numbers they want.
The cat was let out of the bag about a month ago by senior leaders in multiple departments after they found out they were being let go. The number of impacted employees either laid off in the states or having their jobs force transferred out of Allstate to the vendors who will decide their ultimate fate will be 3 to 4 times more than the total impacted in 2020. Most of the Allstate U.S. workforce....

It's happening. Many jobs being outsourced to vendor, where remaining Allstaters will have a chance to interview. Many will be priced out of consideration at their Allstate salary level. I suppose they could still be hired by the vendor if they are willing to take deep salary cut to go along with a lesser benefits package.
I can tell you with 100% certainty it’s happening. Some jobs will be a lift and shift to a vendor. There will be no choice. Take the work at the vendor or leave. It will be all service work going… thousands of jobs!
