Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Nike has changed a lot

I'd be lying if I said I didn't really like my job here until a few years ago. Nowadays, however, I feel like I'm working in a completely different company because Nike has changed a lot. It's this change that I'm having a hard time coming to terms with, but it's futile to hope that Nike will be like it was before…

Change is the only constant at Nike. It’s both a blessing and curse.

It’s a blessing because Nike is more agile than most large companies. It’s a huge reason for Nike’s success.

It’s a curse because nothing is ever the same for very long. Just when you figure something out, bo-m. It will then change again. That gets tiresome.

As for the culture there’s no debating that Nike has changed. Those of us who have been around here for 20+ years could tell stories. Might just be my nostalgia but back then everything seemed easier, people were less uptight, and there was absolutely more of a family feel to working here. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss how things used to be.

Idk - the Nike I joined back in 2013, certain people got a lot of big discrete compensation to high ups. In addition many perks for S and above bands.

I’m just saying, at least the U bands have some benefits thrown their way now. Who knows, maybe you got the gravy train early?

in my opinion - it’s been the same train it’s always been as long as I’ve been here.

It was easy for them not to care about the stock market...it kept going up!

the old Nike that cared about its employees and less about the stock market and shareholders is gone! JD has ensured that every employee feels like a number and is expendable at any moment. The spirit is gone!
